It has been about 2 weeks since my surgery has been put off and I have not heard a word from Doc's office. My unemployment runs out this month and I have to go back to work. I think I have given up. I think someone is trying to tell me something, that maybe this surgery is not for me. everything went so smooth and now this has happened. I feel so bad and I so need this surgery, but I cant put my life on hold anymore. Mary pre-op

Never give up hope. This is just a bump in the road. There is always a brighter side to things and if you just look past this problem, you'll see the light on the other side. Lots of luck! Christine

Why was your surgery put off Mary? I had a wonderful Doctor in Norwalk named Dr. Crum. If all your testing is done and your insurance has approved you and your doctors office is stalling, you might want to give his office a call. I got my appointment with him and my surgery date the same day of the appointment. I had already had most of my tests done when I went to see him. I saw him in Sept of 03 and had my surgery in Nov of 03. Just a suggestion, I am not sure why your surgery was put off tho, please write and let me know. Good Luck Darlene

Hi Mary, please don't give up....I'ts your heath and your life you are going to save with this surgery. It's not a sign to give up it's a sign for you to fight for what you need to have a healthy life. A lot of people on this board have have found roadblocks in their journey they have gone under them....over them...around them and it all worked out. I sure many people here can give you good sound advise because what ever the problem is its happened to them, I think you have to find out exactly what the problem is....if you havent heard from the doctors office you call them....if they don't return your call go directly to the office. Once you find out what the problem is you can determine what you need to do to fix it the people here will help you in any way they can. Please keep fighting......it's your life!!!!! angel

Hi Mary, I don't remember why you had a delay - but hang in there. I know its hard, I can't imagine how I would have felt if things were postponed. I'll be keeping you in my prayers that you will know for sure what way to proceed. God Bless, Kathy B.

Why was it postponed? And fix it. In the world of WLS you have to do it yourself to get it done right. I was lucky, I had a great Dr. and he has a great staff but I was postponed for additional test and I fought really hard to reschedule! If you want this then do it, remeber the squeaky wheel gets the oil (tired and silly but true). I am now almost 100lbs thinner in a size 9 and looking amazing. My life has changed so much I cannot begin to explain, when you are this heavy you carry around alot more than weight. GET RID OF IT! Lorraine

Mary -- Would you be willing to go to another area, like NYC? I know it's a big hassle getting transportation, but the train is always an option. That's what I did. My dr. gave me a surgery date the day of my consult & the tests I had to get, and all I had to do was wait for the insurance approval -- granted it came 5 days before my surgery (!!) but it came, and I went right into surgery with no bumps in the road. Just a thought! Kathy F.
