Hi- Are there any support groups that are held weekly or monthly in the New Haven area?  I would love to get to know people who have had WLS and share stories and experiences in person.

Maria, Chris Lodi does a group at St. Rae's on the 1st and 3rd Thurs. of the month at 6pm.  It's usually held in the conference room outside the auditorium. I haven't been there yet, just had surgery last week, so I don't know exactly where that is, but I'm sure you do!  Apparently, Jessie Moore leads the group, and they rotate through different topics each meeting for about 3 months, then it starts to repeat.  The meetings are about 1-1.5 hours, and are for post-ops to about 1 year out.  After a year, they have a different support group (4th Thurs of the month, 6pm).  Hope this helps!

Kathy

PS - There won't be a meeting next week because of Thanksgiving.  I think they're having it tomorrow night. :-)

Thanks so very much.  I actually did not know that.  I am sure they mentioned it during the orientation, but, at that poiunt, I was focusing on surgery.  I hope all is going well with you.  Maybe we will meet at a meeting.  I have a 3 month post-op visit tomorrow, so, I will ask about the meeting for tomorrow night.  This info helps tremendously!!!! xoxo

I can't go tomorrow night, still not driving and have no ride (parents are taking the kids to a school function, and hubby's working), but hope to go soon and hope we can meet there!  Things are going well for me so far.  Uneventful surgery, in on Fri, out on Sat.  No nausea, no vomiting, just soreness and burning on the left side.  Normal I guess.  Trying to get in liquids and protein.  You know how that is.  But I'm down 8 lbs so far.  SOOOO glad I got the surgery!  Anyway, sorry to hear about your troubles lately, but the new furbabies are adorable!  Good luck on your appt tomorrow.  I know you'll do great, and keep us posted!  I don't have the current schedule, but Dr. Robert Bell out of Yale has a really good support group.  If you call his office,  they will let you know.  I believe Dr. Bell attends most of those support group sessions.
