I don't know what it is, but I can't stop eating, and can't lose my 10 lbs. Seems like ever since I started this journey, I've become obsessed by food. I know I won't be eating these foods again, so I'm doing it now. ANYBODY, PLEASE HELP!! I know if I don't lose the weight, I'll never get the surgery done. What can I do? With the exception of another sleep study, I'm pretty much done with all of my testing, so I need to get this weight off. Suggestions????

Hi Teresa, Sounds like you're experiencing your "last hurrah" with food..I went through a similar challenge.. What I did to get the weight off was switched my focus from weight loss to the actual reasoning behind why the doc requires weight loss- for a safer and smoother surgery and recovery (and who doesnt want that?) -- I lost 12 lbs pretty fast by eating mostly lean protein and vegetables and of course I walked almost everyday.. and I accomplished this during the winter holiday season! Good Luck to you.. Elaine

You know, I was doing okay with my exercise until I got the stomach virus that's been going around. That really dragged me down. So, I'm going to get back on the bike (recumbent stationary bike, that is), and try to start eating high protein foods. They seem to fill me up for a longer period of time. Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one, Elaine. I really appreciate it!

Try to keep your carbs down and your protein up and drink tha****er and the weight will come off and it does diminish your appetite. I did this for 5 months before my surgery and I finally...after years of putting weight on and by just counting carbs and proteins, lost 40 pounds before my surgery...It works...what you get off before surgery gives you a head start and believe me, you won't reqret it..The very best of luck to you...Carol

You can do it! I had an awful time of losign that 10 pounds too. Took me 4 months to lose 4 pounds then I was sweating it that I'd be getting that call to come in and get weighed but still not have lost the last 6. Finally I go tthe phone call and for 2 weeks before I went for weigh in I worked very hard to lose that 6. I did it! Wow was I surprised AND thrilled. For a month now I've been working even harder to keep the 10 off. I dont have a scale so I wont know til this week if I've lost more I do feel a difference in my clothes tho. Just keep working hard at it. The one thing I knew was that the reason for this surgery was so very important - my life - and thats what I kept reminding myself of. If anything it reminded me to that this surgery will help me to be the healthy person that i want to be. Good luck and god bless, O my surgery date is next tuesday march the 30. Please everyone say alittle pray? hugs

Hi Teresa, It's been a long time since we've been in touch. I feel badly that I have dropped the ball, but no longer... I'm back! Now lets get to it girl! When I was struggling before surgery I called Joan at the diabetes center and she got me right on track. Give her a call she would love to work with you. She's great with e-mail also. I had instant success as soon as she made me accountable. It's really hard to do it alone with all the things going through our minds about the surgery. I really needed someone to work with me. We missed you at the last support group. Have faith and hope. You'll get the job done. Carolyn

Hi Teresa, Wow, just scroll down a few messages and you'll see a message from me talking about EXACTLY the same thing! Hope you can gather some strength from the lovely responses I received. We have to try and focus on the healthy body we're after. Someone mentioned adding some healthy foods in there. I TOTALLY understand because I'm doing the same thing. I know I'll still be having some "Last Meals" before my 2 week diet which is mandatory before my surgery, but I'm really going to try and think about the kind, caring responses I got from people on this message board. I honestly feel that everyone here is praying for you and wishing you the best success. I know I am!!! Hang in there, take a deep breath and make sure and choose at least Some healthy foods for your body. Take care, Linda.
