I lost my Mom this past Friday and it's a major blow to my life, but it has also doubly solidified my decision to have the surgery. She was also obese but had many more co-morbidities that I did and although she died suddenly of a major heart attack, obesity was a major player on her death certificate. My Dad and I were discussing tonight what to do with all her clothes and I told him about the clothing drive that was being done at Middlesex that was discussed at one of the weekly meetings. He was thrilled that her clothes would go to a great cause and I wanted to find out if anyone had a contact for me of someone who is involved with collecting clothes. I think Mom would be happy with our decision! Thanks... Ann

Ann: I am sorry about your loss. That is such an awesome thing to do with your mom's clothes. Is speaks volumes about your character that in your time of sorrow and loss you thought of others. I am sure your mom would be proud. Best of luck to you on your WLS journey. Chryssie

I'm so sorry about the loss of your Mom. It's a terrible blow. I lost my Dad a year ago in December (Christmas Eve funeral -- that was the worst), and it was a big factor in my decision to have the surgery. He weighed in the neighborhood of 400 lbs. most of my life, and had so many co-morbidities that no doctor would touch him unless absolutely necessary. You're supporting a great cause in donating the clothing -- lots of people who need it will be able to benefit. God bless you! Kathy F.

Ann, I am truely sorry to hear about your mother. As a mother of grown children my greatest wish is for them to be healthy. I'm sure that's what your mother wanted for you. So continue on your journey knowing you are fufilling your mother's wishes for you. She will be watching over you with a mothers love. You and your mother will be in my thoughts. angel

So sorry to hear about your loss. My dad passed away last November due to weight related comorbities. Although I had already made my decision to have the surgery, seeing what he went through, and knowing how young he was when he died, convinced me even more that it would be the best thing for me to do -- and it has been! You and your family will be in my prayers. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau

Dear Ann, I lost my dad a little over two years ago. I know how hard it is to figure out what to do with their things. I think it is a wonderful idea for you to bring the clothes to the exchange. I think you can contact Amy Wardell. I believe she organized the last one. Good luck. Christine

Dear Ann, I am so sorry for your loss. I think that donating your mothers clothing is such a wonderful idea. There are soo many woman who get so upset when they have to go out and buy clothes in large sizes. Sometimes it is just too overwelming. I hope that your mothers clothing can help someone that has these low self esteem issues or someone who just needs a pick me up by getting something "previously loved".
