Weight loss has stopped!
I just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this. I had my surgery on 1/26/04 and as of my 6 week following up I had lost 30 lbs. and have not lost another pound since. I'm getting discouraged. I'm getting in all of my fluids and most of my protein (approx. 55 grams). I try and walk everyday but nothing seems to be working. Would this be considered my first plateau? I also feel like I'm not losing fast enough either. I read some of the other clients bio's and they've lost close to 75 to 100 lbs. in 3 months. I started out at 326, lost 15 lbs. prior to surgery, and when I went to see Dr. Aranow on 3/5 was down to 281. I did mention to him that I felt hungry a lot of the time and that I never felt full. He said that would probably change once I start eating solid foods which he gave me the go ahead to do. Well so far that hasn't really worked either. I don't go over what is specified for size portions and have never gotten sick or dumped. Can anyone else give me a idea what you were eating for the day when you were 6 to 7 weeks out? I would appreciate any responses. I'm sorry to bother anyone but I just needed to vent.
Plateaus are a natural part of the process. I was probably at about the same place as you when I lost nothing for 2 weeks. I was beside myself!! But it did move again. I just had a 2nd plateau (arrgh!!!) & had only lost 5-6 lbs. in almost a month, but then this past week I lost 6 lbs. -- thank God!!
Keep doing what you're doing & the weight loss will come back.
Good luck!!
Kathy
Hi Lucy;
I was glad to see your post. I haven't heard from you in awhile. Hang in there!! You are pretty much going at the same pace I am. Our starting weight is the same also. I think everyone has there own pattern of losing. Mine doesn't really seem to be like anyone elses. I only seem to lose about once a month. The scale sits idle for 2 week periods or more and then I will drop. I tend to average about 10 pounds per month maybe less some months. During that idle time I know my body is still changing so I try not to let it get to me. I know I am doing the best I can do and I have tried not to let other people's drastic loses get to me.
It sounds like you are doing everything you are suppose to be doing. Comparing what other people are eating doesn't really give you the whole picture either. It's the whole picture that tells the story. Food, activity, fliud, medications and other illnesses will all play a role in our weight loss.
Stay positive and celebrate your individual success.
