OK as you know, all hormones are a no-no  before surgery. So, as a good girl (Stop laughing at that. I can be good if I want to be. ), I stopped taking the pill two weeks ago. Now when I first started taking the stupid little things I was an emotional mess. Now that I am off them, I am an emotioanal mess again. I was like this all the time too before I was on them since my hormones were so outta wack. I just finished watching Cold Case and I bawled like a dang baby over it.   I mean it was sad, but not bawling sad. I swear Imma go crazy  by the time I have the surgery.

Wow, I have to say that I'm shocked that any surgeon would recommend going off the pill before surgery..... I have never heard of that!!

Seriously, I would think they would be more worried about an unscheduled pregnancy either just before or too soon after surgery.  I am totally scratching my head over this one

There is an increased risk of blood clots for women who are on the pill. Since clotting post-op is a big risk also, that may be why.  Just a guess.

Yup Laura that's the reason. It's all about the blood clots. You raise your risks of clots with the pill and then with the surgery you can get them so they take you off them a month before and tell you to "use other forms" for a month before and a month after.

When hormones are out of whack it is AMAZING how much our personalities change - Trust me I know! When I was on the pill ten million years ago I was always an emotional wreck. When I got pregnant the first time I was a wicked B$#ch and didn't care! I told my husband I totally understood mental illness a whole lot better! Now with this pregnancy I've been a bit emotional but so far I'm able to keep it under wraps...........

Hang in there - have a good cry and blame it all on hormones - you have permission!
Warm Regards - Tammy -
