Convinced

As more information I read more convinced I'm of the decision that I have made. I'm just trying to convince my wife to take a look to the site so she is able to be more informed and at the same time more relax with the surgery. Today I call my doctors office and as of now they do not have a definitive day for the return on my doctor from her maternity leave. They think it should be at the beginning of April. As soon as she returns, she will do the endoscope and the routine test. Then the surgery. Based on your experience, how much time it should take from this test to the surgery day? I just want to start planning my calendar. I guess that my surgery could be during May. I have planned trips outside of the US by mid July. Do you think that in a normal case I shouldn't have issues with my trip? I guess that I'm a little bit anssious. You it has been almost a year. Thanks; JOHN

The tests usually take place within a month of the surgery, particularly the blood tests, etc. -- if you don't have the surgery within 30 days of having the necessary blood tests, you have to have them done all over again! If you're having the surgery in May, you should be fine by July, as long as you're not going to be doing long distance running or anything. Lord knows being anxious is a very realistic feeling based on what you're doing. Don't let you wife see my profile (I had complications), but I'm glad I did it and there are lots of profiles of people who've had amazing success. Good luck to you!

John- after all my tests were complete and results were in, it still took about 2 1/2 months. I had no issues to be addressed before surgery. going by my 'calendar' you could be on target. However, I have a different surgeon and the process is different for everyone. How busy will your Dr. be after she gets back from maternity leave? Is there a possibility that she is not returning in early April? Will your endoscopy indicate any problems that need to be addressed before surgery? These are just a few of the questions which will effect when you can have surgery. So, I guess my unhelpful answer for you is not terribly helpful. All I can say is hang in there. It will happen in due time, and there's not much control you can exert over it (which makes it even more frustrating!) Hang out with us and we'll help you pass the time. In fact, join us for our CT get together on March 20th! This would be a great place for your wife to learn more about surgery and meet some posties and maybe their spouses, without any pressure. Meeting posties made a big difference for my husband, it might help your wife too. Email me if you want the info on the get together! We're expecting quite a nice crowd! Best, Lisa C
