A delicate question

Boy, what a board hog I am today. I have a question for postops. I am having difficulty with patches of red skin under "the girls". One of my friends who is also post op recommended Desitin ointment. I am using it for the past 3 days but it doesn't seem to be helping. Before that, I tried just baby powder. It's strange because it's a perfect circle but real red. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any remedies??? Ouchingly yours, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, I haven't had your problem -- but I would strongly suggest that you take some pictures of the rash. Just in case later on you decide to have a lift -- you'll have plenty of proof that you had good reason for it! My husband used Ammens powder for rashes in the past, and he says it works really good - you might want to try it. Otherwise, make sure you dry off really good after your shower. Hope someone has a solution for you. See you on the 20th! Kathy

Hi Cheryl I get the same red patches and they can get a bit itchy at times. my pcp suggested monistat cream it is next to the monistat that you "insert" for yeast infections in any store. it usually clears things up in a day or 2. i hope this helps you out. Cheryl K post op- 6/13/03

Cheryl, I have used Gold Bond medicated powder (in the Green bottle) for that rash in the past. Seemed to work the best of all the things I have tried. I was getting that rash pretty regularly for a while but haven't had it lately. I would definitely document it as Kathy said. Maybe even call your dermatologist and get an opinion so it is noted by his office. Go Huskies!! Linda

I had a bad rash last summer & I tried all kinds of creams & powers... no luck...went to PCP it was a fungus (yeast infection). he ordered a anti-fungal cream. He said DO NOT use any type of powder; if you sweat it just turns into soup that bacteria and fungus love. He recomended after your shower you dry really good using hair dryer (nice mental picture) then I use deoderant (even better mental picture) stick some tissue underneath and I'm good to go. hope this helps. angel

It is a fungal infection that you have. Ask your doctor for a prescription for some cream (CLOTRIMAZOLE AND BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE CREAM)and it will usually go away within a day. I use it whenever I get a rash under there and between skin folds and the rash usually goes away in a day. Also try an anti-fungal cream that you can get over the counter something that cures jock itch/ringworm (those are fungal infections too). Good Luck

Thank you all for your kind suggestions! I am trying the Gold Bond and the monistat today. If that doesn't work, then I am going to see my PCP for the last suggestion also to get some documentation to help with my TT. Thanks again everyone! What a great site this is! love Cheryl

You might try Hydrocortisone cream too, I find it helps with all rashes, yeast and otherwise and doesn't hold in moisture and should clear up with in days. Darlene

I have heard that a touch of a yeast infection can live there. My Dr. says it is the perfect environment for it to grow - dark, moist and warm. You may get relief from a rubbing a little Monistat type cream there. You didn't mention itchy which would also be a sign. Linda L. RNY 2/11/04

I have used Clotrimazol or Tri-something that's I think the same thing. It's an anti-fungal sort of cream and it does wonders with rashes. I've used it for heat-rash and they had me use it for a rash that broke out under "the girls" when I was in the hospital after my second surgery. Good luck!!!
