First Time!!!
Well this is the first time I write in this site.
I already went through all the pre op process. My doctor, Dr. Barajas, went into maternity leave so we had to postpone the surgery from December to April.
This waiting period has been very though. It allows me to get scare and get a lot of questions about the surgery that I even had in the past. My family at the beginning was very supportive but now that they realized that I was serious with the decision they have change their mind.
Obviously they have use this waiting time to try to convince me to change my mind.
My biggest concern at this point of time is the Long Term life after surgery. What will be our normal life? How would be our eating habits two years after surgery? What happen when you loose all the weight that you have to loose? What happen after all the euphoria of loosing weight?
Hope to hear from you soon!!!
Well John,
You certainly have been waiting a long time for your surgery. Maybe it's for the best because you seem to have lots of concerns still.
My advice would be to get all the info you can about the surgery. Ask lots of questions and do lots of research. Let your family know what you've learned and tell them about this website and others you visit so they can learn too. People that do not know the benefits of having this surgery are always the ones to try to "talk you out of it."
I share all my info with my kids, husband and Mom. Afterall, they are my main support group!
If you have decided that this surgery is for you, it will change your life, for the better. You will be healthier and probably happier.
Good luck!
Christine
Hi John, I don't know how long we live after surgery. But I don't know how long I would have lived without surgery. And my quality of life was not what I wanted fror myself without the surgery. After surgery I find it is a very big adjustment, but I feel better each day. Your family will worry, it is a serious decision. They may not have your weight problem and they love you even if you are large.
Thanks for your replies!!! I'm new in this country and it has been great to find that other people take care!!!
Where I'm able to find information regarding the pros and cons of the LAP Bypass vs. Band? I was approved for the Laparascopic Bypass but I meet a woman that had the band and she told me that she did the band because she was scare of the bypass and the band was better.
Now again, I'm confuse. Does it is normal? Please share with me your experiences and or any information that you may have.
thanks!!!
John-Try to utilize this wonderful website. If you ask ten people, you will get ten different answers.
Go to My Journey on this site and just click away. Also go to the Q & A portion of the site. You can read for hours and get many questions answered there as well.
Then there is Barbara Thompson's book :Finding the thin person indside of you, wieght loss surgery. If you put her name in the search engine on Amazon it will come up. That book helped me a lot with the many questions I had.
good luck on your journey
Cheryl
