Psych Eval in Connecticut
Hi Tammy - I'm from Somers too! Yes, Dr. Raftopoulos is the new Medical Director for the Bariatric Surgery Center at St. Francis and i LOVE him! I had other appts setup to go talk with other surgeons and ended up cancelling bc after meeting him, my "gut" just told me that Dr. R. was the surgeon for me. I think he really sets the gold standard for care with Bariatric Surgery, based on the preventative measures he uses before/during/after surgery. His office staff is great - Andrea is so responsive. I did read up on him on this board - his comments from his PA patients basically all said the same thing, a little rough around the edges but an outstanding surgeon. I didn't find him to be abrasive at all. The only thing I saw was in the seminar I was required to attend, one woman was not listening to what he was saying and kept interrupting him with questions and he was getting irritated and it showed in his responses. But when I went to my first appt with him, I did have questions and he answered them professionally and respectfully - didn't seem to be annoyed at all. I've really been pushing my way through the "process" in that my first appt was at the end of September and I am hoping to have had all of my requirements/appointments completed by the second week of November with an end of November surgery date. Fortunately, my insurance does not require a supervised diet.
Well hello fellow Somers resident
My eval with Dr. Rothschild was very quick, simple and didn't have a lot of depth - he just wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing - I wasn't even there an hour - it was very easy to get to..........I think if I wanted to have a long term relationship with a doctor he probably wouldn't be my first pick - but to put a check in the box to get what needed to be done - he was perfect!
I'm happy to hear you like the new doctor at St. Francis, that's so important to feel a connection with a person you'll have a long term relationship with...........

I went to Cynthia Worth and it was in two sessions. The first one was basically us talking and answering some questions. I did have to take the test but it wasn't something to study for. It's a personality test. The second session was going over the test and a few other things. Not as painful as I thought it would be. Dr. Worth was very nice and easy to talk to.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Dr. R was very good when I met him-his is very cautious and a perfectionist which is what you want in a surgeon-I really like him-Andrea is great and very responsive and calls back ASAp. Judy Carty is very good-very informative and answers all your questions. Where I have run into a problem is with the pulmonary-if you have a pulmonary MD already see if you can go to him-Preskensis office is awful-they booked me for my first appt-went to Hartford and was told my appt was in Glastonbury-with one of the docs who doesn't even deal with the bariatric. When I returned to my rescheduled appt-I was there for 2 1/2 hours-I was told I should have planned to be there that long-the doc schedules 4 people at a time-to me this is a sign of a money hungry doc. My time is also valuable-I booked the sleep study-the letter I got was for a different day-I called and was told that they only have temps For Sundays and don't want to do it then-I have waited for 3 days now for a call back of when this is going to be scheduled. I also question why all the pre op stuff if the intiial exam is normal-like the cardiac-why the stress test if everything is normal? No other program does pre op testing to this extent-because of all the frustrations I am looking to go elsewhere.
