Dr.Bell's patients
Hi. Can anyone tell me when the next group meeting for Dr. Bell's pre-ops is (not the support group) How often are they? I have all my pre-work done & I am just waiting for the psych eval to be mailed in. I know I still have a long wait ahead of me but a general time line might help me be more patient.
Thanks,
Chryssie
Hi Chryssie,
I'm not sure when the next group meeting is . . . . The best person to contact for this info would be Liz. However, until your psych eval is received, they will not schedule you.
I know it seems like a really long wait, but in the end, it really is worth it!

Hi Chryssie,
Well you are talking to the Queen of Impatience here . I totally understand what you are going through however all I can tell you is take a deep breathe and keep busy. First of all, if you had your psych eval done at Yale by all means call them and hound them about getting the report sent. It took them over a month to get mine out. I was besides myself. Second, Dr. Bell has the group sessions once a month. Once they finally get all your stuff then it will be a couple of months before you go to a group meeting. I know they are already scheduled thru at least April. Once you have the group session they try to schedule everyone for surgery within 2 months of the session. I know it is a very long wait and it drove me crazy. To give you some sense of time frame.......I had my nutrion and psych evals in May, my group session was in September and my surgery in November. I found that going to the support group meetings, visiting people at the hospital after their surgery and spending a lot of time at this site helped me get through what seemed at the time a tunnel with no end in sight. I will tell you once I actually had a surgery date the time went pretty quickly but up until then I was nuts. Sorry I don't have better news but it is good to know what you are in for. Take care and email me if you have more questions or just want to vent.
Linda
Thanks Linda & Kathy!!! I am really trying to be patient(like I have a choice). I really value all the knowledge & experience you both bring to this site. I can not wait to the next support meeting to learn some more. Thanks for always being there and offering you're words of wisdom!!
Thanks,
Chryssie
