Gone Home and Loving It!

Well I got home from the hospital Friday afternoon not feeling too bad. The biggest challenge last night was trying to figure out how to roll out of bed unassisted without the help of the pulling aparatus they give you in the hospital. I had to wake my guy up twice to help me get up during the night. Oh well... It only hurts when I move or laugh, so please keep the jokes to a minimum. (HA! HA!) The incision leaked a little the first day but then dried up. Now if I could just get rid of that gastly "something died on me" smell that surgeries leave on you for a while! I was exhausted in the hospital because my roommate was not a quiet sleeper. They were able to move her the last night as other space opened up. Getting sleep made a world of difference in how I felt the last day there. Thankfully they were very nice about it and tried to accommodate me. It is simply amazing how I don't feel the least bit of hunger. I also noticed the smell of dinner cooking last night made me feel a little queezy. I see what you mean about there being post-op changes to taste buds, etc. Do I have any regrets? Not yet! I am looking forward to the next steps.

Welcome Home Lyn!! Glad to hear you did well. The real fun begins now. It will be new experiences every day but hopefully good ones. We will try to keep the laughter down to a low roar for awhile but you know that laughter is the best medicine . Take care and keep us updated on your new life. Linda

Lyn- So glad you got to be home nice and early! Now you know why I suggest bringing a small fan, not only does it cool us off, but helps with the smells and noisey roomies!! When I was in we had a night time screamer on the floor! I am also so glad to hear your hospital provided a trapeze to help roll yourself out of bed. This is one of the things we have suggested to our Doc at UConn. It was so hard to get out of bed when I was in. I'ts only going to get better from here on! Welcome to the "other" side!! hugz Cheryl
