I really tried to eat anything lean and low fat. I eat a lot of soups high in protein and low carb. I didn't have any sickness with anything I tried. Just some pain in my chest when I ate to fast. What stage are you on? (soft foods or reg diet). Then I can give you some ideas of what I ate. Susan

Hi Patricia, Congrats on getting the ok to eat again! I don't know about you, but the liquid phase was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life! Anyhoo, when I first got the ok to eat pureed foods I ate a lot of soup (Miso soup, egg drop soup mainly since both are high in protein). I also was able to tolerate tuna with a tiny bit of low-fat mayo...and I mean tiny. As far as getting sick, be prepared, everyone is different and I got sick a lot (pasta, eggs every time) and even now, 4 months out, I will get sick one meal, eat it again another night and be fine. I dump on sugar and fatty foods, and while non-WLS people don't get it, I'm happy I do - it keep me in check! Congrats and keep up the good work, you fellow Loser!

When I was on the soft foods diet. I ate eggs, cream of wheat with low-fat milk, I also did very well with chicken soups and egg drop soup. I boiled chicken (that was pretty tasty with some salt and pepper) then with the stock left in the pot- I would make my own soup with left over chicken and ad some carrots, onions and other non gassy veggies I could have. I would add a little extra fat-free stock to make more liquid. I still eat soup practically everyday for lunch. It's very easy going down. Also for you next stage-Try Soy Crispy Whispys-they are high protein low carb. (It satifys my crunchy carb attacks) they come in all different flavors. Lean Cuisine meals that had turkey or chicken in them. They were very soft and easy to digest (I only ate the meat from them. I ate a lot of low fat cottage cheese. That got kinda boring after a while. Tuna fish was good too with a little lite mayo. I don't know if you can have a 1/2 slice bread yet but idon't do well with bread. It hurts going down. But the carb countdown bread is good. I think homepride makes it.

Hi Patty, Its hard to believe you will be eating real food again I am sure! Anyways, I started off with things like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, a little (like a tablespoon) of mashed potatos, sf jello, sf fat free pudding. I moved rather quickly though to tuna fish, salmon etc. I never purreed anything and eat a fairly wide variety of foods. I got hooked (still am) on some things like crab......had to have crab cakes for a few weeks there, then it was homemade turkey chili. I still eat that a few times a week for lunch. I make a big pot and then freeze small containers and pop them out of the freezer the night before. Also I am big on cheese so string cheese, cheddar you name it I have eaten it and it has all agreed with me. Good luck and you will find that you may need to experiment with some spices to get things to taste like you want them too......oh yes one other thing I ate alot of in the beginning was deviled eggs......yummy Linda
