YIPEEE>>>>>>Losing side!!!!
Hi everyone,
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers!Surgery was Monday the 26th Lap Rny at Yale.I didn't have complications, any minor problems were more to do with the hospital and staff.Gosh, what can we possibly do for Dr.Bell, that would ever show our appeciation for his talents and giving us LIFE.Any of you out there who know Dr. Bell, know I don't mean just his surgical talent,I mean his people skills.I can't even begin to tell you what I think of him.The nursing staff I had was def a stroke of luck for all three shifts, the entire time I was there from Monday until discharge Wed. afternoon.Nurses, aides, techs,,,,,,they were all very kind and attentive. My only worrisome point was speaking with the anesthesiologist in the holding room.I plan on speaking to Dr. Bell about the matter at my first post op visit which isnt until the 13th. Briefly, I start IV's in my own job as a nurse. Its simple, if I can't get it,or it looks like a "tough stick"(for the patient),I GET A NURSE ,I KNOW IS MORE TALENTED THAN I!!!This guy was ready to do an "arterial line" which is more invasive, and if he couldn't do that a "Triple lumen" which is an even more invasive procedure for IV access. All he had to was ask someone else to give it a try.see part 2
Hey Carol!!
Welcome back . I am sorry to hear that there were problems with the IV lines. Its always something isn't it?? Sounds like you are doing well at home and I am sure very glad to be there. Can't wait to hear more updates and hope to see you soon. I wasn't able to make the New London Meeting because of the weather etc but plan to make the next one. Don't forget call me if you have any questions or whatevers. Take care and enjoy!!
Linda
Hi Carol,
I had a very similar experience with the IV. Took 4 attempts (painful attempts) before they got one in. They were talking about putting one in my neck OUCH - needless to say, I was glad they finally got one in.
Otherwise, seems like you are doing well - which is WONDERFUL
Welcome to the losing side.
God Bless
