6 Days To Go...
Well only 6 days away from Dr. Aranow starting me on my new journey.
I think I'm prepared...have various protein samples and lots of liquid choices, new treadmill, positive attitude. I hope it is an uneventful surgery and overall positive experience. I thank everyone for your past posts as you have prepared me more than I would have otherwise been.
Thanks again!
Lyn
I'm very happy for you and your upcoming date and the positive attitude will carry you a long way.
The hospital will give you most everything you need, but if I should mention something to remember, it would be: Good lotion, chap stick and a long backscratcher. The scratcher will come in handy as the narcotic they give you for pain make most people icth, but it will also help you reach things the first few days. Also it's a good thing to bring a little note pad and a pen.....the pain meds make you forget things, so it's good to write it down.
Once again, I know you will be in good hands with Dr. Aranow and on the 4th floor at he hospital. My prayers will be with you, hugs from Tove
Lyn,
Can you believe that your surgery is only 6 days away? Wow!
It sounds like you are all set to get started on your journey.
Great advice from Tove...
only thing I could add is:
Walk, Walk, Walk
Sip, Sip, Sip
and Breath, Breath, Breath (If they ask you to use a spirometer, use it as much as you can... I almost didn't get to go home from the hospital because I couldn't get my oxygen level up)
Keep up that positive attitude and you will be well on your way to a smaller, healthier new you in no time.
Kim
Dear Lyn,
I will be praying for an uneventful surgery for you and a speedy recovery. I had open RNY last wednesday (1 week ago) each day it gets better and better. Just keep an upbeat positive attitude and don't be nervous it will go by so quick you won't know what hit you. I am so happy I made this decision and I am sure you will be too! Lots of luck to you! We will see you on the "other side"!

Hi Lyn,
Wow - just a few more days! Keep the positive attitude - it will really help you through it. And like you've already read, walk, walk, walk, breathe, breathe, breathe! Its amazing how important that is.
I'll keep you in my prayers for an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery.
God Bless,
Kathy Bilodeau

Just to echo everyone else, walk, sip and keep that positive attitude and please keep that great smile too!!
I will add bringing that small fan. It really helped both my angelettes, Kim and Cathy. We tend to run warm to begin with and hospitals are warm and the pain meds make you warm.
Take Kim's advice on the spirometer too, I remember watching her breath and doing it with her making her hubby laugh. He said oh, she breathes that way all the time!!!
Best to you!
Cheryl
Lyn,
You're almost there! congrats! The care you will get on the 4th floor is second to none - they are some of the most caring, educated staff who will make your immediate recovery all the more smooth. I remember being intubated and the night nurse (a guy, forgot his name, Dilaudid will do that to you) told me he'd be in at 6AM to take it out...and like clockwork there he was! Same with the Folley...6AM on the nose.
I agree with everyone's advice, walk, sip, breathe, pen/paper, fan, etc.
I can't wait to hear from you and all your success!
