Ann-this is a great question. Here's what I do. I first do all my protein, if and a BIG if I am still hungry I do a carb. So it really limits th amount of carbs I can fit in. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I guess my own rule of thumb (on a good day) lol is to drink as much water as I can and get the protein in and that doesn't leave much room for any "cheating". Of course on a "bad" day, I can eat a lenders bagel no prob!!! But I don't do ANY sugar at all and I rarely eat between meals because I am trying so hard to get my water in. Remember, I said on a good day. I'm human, I have my good days and my not so good days!! Hope this helps a little! Cheryl

I basically do the same you do, I also do not eat any sugars. But I am a year out and lost 170lbs and was wondering if I wanted to add a bagel, would that be too much. I hope that does not sound stupid. Believe it or not even after a year I still have a lot of questions because for the first year I never would eat any carbs (bread, pasta, potato or cereal) So now I do not want to go overboard but would like a piece of bread every blue moon. Thanks alot for your input.

Like I said, Ann, I do have a lenders bagel now and then, but just make sure I follow the rest of the day with lots of protein. If you've lost 170 pounds you are to be congratulated BIG TIME!! That is SO awesome! Best to you! Cheryl

Hi Ann, I use Fitday.com also and what I have discovered is that I usually keep under 40grams of carbs per day but that doesn't account for the dietary fibers that counter act some of those carbs . So I guess in reality my carb count is lower than I originally thought. You have done so good that I am sure you will be able to judge for yourself what works for you and what doesn't. Congrats!!
