Question about medical insurance coverage

I have started researching my options regarding WLS. I really prefer the lap over the open. I called 1 DR's offand they told me that Anthem BC/BS State Bluecare POE (state of CT employees) will not cover the lap. However I have read several people's posts that have this coverage. I am really confused. I would LOVE to hear from anyone. Thanks for your help with my journey.
