Hi Everyone, I have a hard time getting in my liquids. Plain ole water makes me sick, ALL varieties of Crystal Light make me sick, juice, just about everything. I sip ice-cold water throughout the day but I know I'm not coming close to my requirements. Does anyone have any suggestions? Even a list of your favorite drinks will help me to broaden my horizons and maybe find something that works. It's funny, I have a tougher time with liquids than with solids! Thanks!

Hi Debbie, how are you doing?? I suggest making milkshakes/frozen ice with the new low carb milk..........try half milk half water. You can use frozen strawberries ( or any othter kind of frozen fruit that is NO SUGAR ADDED), put them in the blender cover with the milk mixture and add som splenda, zapp it and enjoy. You cal also try to add such thing like fresh mint leaves, lemon, or any other kind of flavor you might like, to your water. Hope it helps you out, hugs from Tove

Hi Debbie - Even though I'm not post-op yet, the only thing I can share with you is the advice of the nutritionist at our Pre-op mtg. She said not to drink liquids that are too cold or too hot for a while. Some people have a hard time and just don't realize it's the temperature of the liquid that's bothering them, not the liquid itself. So I thought I'd share that with you. Good Luck! Hugs, Carla

Hi Deb, I've always had trouble with water. No matter what the temperature. I'm 8 months out now and still cannot drink much water. (And water was my favorite beverage pre-op.) I can't drink the Crystal Light mixes... but the ones that come already mixed in the plastic bottles go down just fine. I drink decaf coffee decaf iced tea (home brewed or 4C brand decaf instant) Kool-Aid sweetned with Splenda Carb Countdown Milk I will never understand why our stomachs have such a hard time with plain water but something like kool-aid, made with water, goes down just fine.

Hi Deb, I well know Kim has had a hard time with liquids, I even tried to get her to try my trick. I can drink water if it is room temp! Isn't that weird? I can also drink a lot of V-8 the real one, not the one with all the sugar. Plus it has protein in it. I also drink Rocomojo coffee, (the link is on my profile) it is coffee I got at Wild Oats in West Hartford. It has half the caffiene in it, AND protein and tastes pretty darn good!! I put splenda and coffeemate in it and I am good to go! What I think is strange is how you can actually FEEL the liquid go down and hit bottom!

OH Yeah... I forgot about V-8 juice. YUM! Think I'll have a glass right now. I mix a little lemon juice and a few dashes of tabasco sauce in my V-8 and serve it over ice. Delish!

I hate to say it, Debbie, but I haven't had any problem with any liquids and all the things you mentioned, I love! Crystal Lite has always been my favorite. I make it with 1 tub of CL, one packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid and a gallon of water. It stays nice and tart without any added sweetener. Of course, the trick is to get flavors that compliment each other: ruby red grapefruit CL and orange KoolAid, Raspberry CL and Fruit Punch Koolaid. How about iced tea, iced coffee, hot mint tea, ginger tea (the ginger might help settle your stomach) . . . add a couple of drops of lemon or lime juice to your water, or a slice of the actual fruit . . .? Have you tried Fruit2o? Remember that boullion, broth, and sugar-free pops and ices count toward your requirements, too.

Try anything warm, like herbal tea. Warm skim milk, lattes, sugar free chai, coffee (decaf is best), etc. The warmth is the only thing that helps me get in the liquids. I have always struggled, and still do. HEAT has been the savior. It makes the difference for me being able to get in 40 oz now as opposed to before I found it only being able to force in 20 oz, which is horribly too little! Occasionally, I'll make my own homemade brewed iced tea from herbal teas or decaf, and just add a little lemon for extra flaver. I refrigerate them, but drink them room temp. I can drink, drink, drink this. Perhaps this will help? Good luck to you.
