Hello All Finally met with doc aranow and he met all expectations....I wish he was my pcp. Need sleep study (thanks fawn for info) cardiolgist, pulmonary and all the other junk. I also need to see a vascular surgeon. I have problems with leg swelling and vascular ulcers I guess it put me at a higher risk for blood clots....thats where greenfield filter comes in. Anybody have any experience wirh it???? Hubby and I started south beach diet to try to lose 10 lbs doesnt seem so bad. The good news is I dont have to do barium swallow or any upper GI test who would have thought having by gallbladder out several years ago would be a good thing someday Looks like Im finally on my way!!!!!!

Hi Angela, I had a Greenfield filter put in right before my surgery (Oct 6th) and let me give you some advice I wish I was told. DRINK A TON of water when the procedure is done for a few days. This will flush out the die and stuff the inject you with. I dont know if it happens to everyone, but I was pretty sick for a few days afterwards. So load up on the H2O (good for ya anyway!) If you have it done at the Radiology dept at Middlesex - they're awesome. They were all so nice, it was almost a fun day! And don't worry, it doesn't hurt a bit. I like having the peace of mind that if I did get a blood clot that the filter would prevent it from traveling. That's still comforting now, almost 4 months out. I had three blood clots from being 6 weeks postpartum and a 10-hour car ride I went on...badda boom...next thing you know I was hospitalized and actually ended up having surgery to disolve the biggest clot. Serious stuff, and if your Dr wants you to have one, it's such a simple procedure, and a life-saving one at that! Good luck!
