Hello, it's me again!
When Lois gave me my surgery date today she said that I wouldn't have time to attend a Pre-op class before the surgery (Jan. 26th). Can anyone tell me what is discussed or done in this class? She gave me a tel. number to call which I'll do Monday, but I'd be really like to have some idea of what goes on sooner. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lucy
I think Sandy is thinking of the regular monthly support groups, the pre-op class is different. I found it to be very beneficial but not a necessity. Several of the nurses teach the class. They go through every step of the procedure once you walk through the door so that you are not as nervous or anxious. They show slides of the operating room and explain the tubes and IV's that you will need to have. It wasn't so much that they taught me alot, I think I had educated myself pretty well, but I loved their attitudes and knowing that it would be some of these same people involved in my care made me feel much more relaxed.
Good luck to you!
I had a very easy recovery and I'm sure you will too.
My surgery was 12/01
