Date Scheduled and Insurance Approved!
Hi everyone - I have been a message board voyeur for some time now, rarely posting. I have always appreciated the constructive WLS feedback that is posted which has helped me in making the decision to go forward. Thanks to everyone for your help!
I completed my surgery prerequisites on 1/14/04 and Dr. Aranow's office submitted my request for insurance approval. By 1/16/04 I had a surgery date and insurance approval. Wow! Although I am anxious to get going with my new and healthier life, I am struggling with how I will accomplish everything I need to in the next two weeks at work. Everything has happened pretty suddenly. I just need to take a deep breath and get myself organized (which is what I do best). Hopefully the distractions will make the time go by faster.
Special thanks to the folks that already responded to my "surgery date scheduled" update yesterday. It is nice to know there are so many caring people out there!
I could use one more bit of help. Unfortunately, I will be on a business trip on the only day the Middlesex Hospital offers a pre-op WLS info session before I have my surgery. I was told they not only provide a tour at the hospital, but also explain what to expect during your stay and what to have on hand for when you get home. Other than the dietary info the Dietician provided (like vitamins, protein supplements, etc. ), is there anything else I should have at home? Any advice you can offer is appreciated. Thanks again! Lyn
Hi Lyn and Congratulations!! I also talked with Lois today and got a tentative (pending insurance approval) for Jan. 26th. I didn't expect it to be this soon but I'm so ready. Lois doesn't feel I'd have any problems getting approval from my insurance company. I have Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Century Preffered. I hope she's right! Good luck to you and I'll be praying for you. See you on the other side! If you'd like to email me my address is: [email protected]. I'd be glad to talk to you. Take care.
Congrat's Lyn!!! I have my last preop test on Monday and will have a follow up with Dr. Phillips still to go after I'm on the CPAP and then I'll be where you are- anxious, excited, and READY!
Why don't you post on the main board? I've seen a lot of stuff there about what to have both in the hospital and when you get home. Also, if you search the library someone put together a great list for that.
I'm scheduled for Jan. 28th pending insurance approval, but I got it before for Oct 7th then had to cancel because of other health issues. Fawn I live in Plainville, that's not too far from you. Everyone I can't believe I'm actually going to be able live without food weighing me down in more weighs than one! Very funnny, have a nice day, Sue Therrien
