Hi. My name is Susan. I am scheduled for surgery 01/20/2004. I live in Plainville. What is an angel? It took me two days to get this far. I need to reach out, make friends, and ask experienced people how it is going for them. My doctor says 2 out of 10 have problems after surgery, but most people are okay after six weeks. Is this you experience? Can I just come and type these msgs everyday. Is that how I'll meet people. I was going to a support group in the summer in Waterbury, but now I can't find it. Please respond.
Hi Susan,
Welcome to the CT Boards. We are a pretty friendly group here and are available to answer questions and give support or just be there. Since you don't have a profile or at least one that is public, I am not sure who your doctor is or what type of surgery you are having. Its difficult to answer your question specifically. I had lap rny with Dr. Bell at Yale about 7 weeks ago. I had no pain, have been able to eat everything that I have tried and feel great. I am very lucky and I know it. My best advice is not to stress about it. I truly believe that attitude has alot to do with your recovery. Take some deep breathes, and relax and enjoy the ride. It will be a wild one.......
Oh yes you asked about 's. These are people who agree to be there to support you. That support can take many forms. Sometimes your angel might be a long distance one who supports you through emails, postings and phone calls. Sometimes you might have a local one (or more than one like I did ) who might visit you in the hospital or at home. Most angels no matter where they are will give you their phone number so you can have a family member call them. They then post your progress on the message boards so all the rest of us know how you are doing. I think that is pretty much it in a nutshell. Take care and good luck!!!!

Hi Susan!! BIG WELCOMES!!
I live in Burlington! Just a stones throw away. Where are you having your surgery??? There is another member here Cathy that is also from Plainville that is recently preop. We belong to the support group at UConn Health Center where we had our surgery.

Welcome Susan
Yes, you can come to this board at any time and post a question, or read some of the others and join in. The group is awesome!
We are planning a get together in late March or so - more info will follow, and I'm sure we'd all love to meet you -- and -- you'd get to meet us as well.
I had Dr. Bell at Yale, and just like Linda, I've done wonderful. I thank God every day for that. I'll be glad to answer any specific questions you may have - you can either email directly, or post again.
God Bless and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!

Hi Susan and welcome. I myself am pre-op but I wanted to introduce myself because I live in Plainville too. It's a small town so I'm sure we are pretty close....One thing I can tell you is when you found this website it was the best thing you could have ever done. It is so informative and the people here are wonderful. I thank god everyday that I did. Email me anytime if you'd like to chat.
