Hi Shannon, I understand how you feel. My surgery is tomorrow 1/7. The butterflies, anxiety didn't hit me until i recieved the call for the surgery time and registration. Now my nerves are all jumbled. What kept me going is looking foward to my new life ahead of me. I wish you the best on your upcoming surgery. May God and his angels be by your side. Gigi

Oh Boy! Have I been there done that, or what!?! It's totally normal to be excited and happy and sad and scared all at the same time. THe only advice I can give you is to keep yourself as busy as possible in the upcoming days. I think a fun project would be to go through your summer clothes and throw out or donate all the ones that fit you now- because they won't this summer! It's a great way to get started on the mental change... Clean out your closets of any clothes that you've got that are bigger than you need too (no matter what season they are)- if you have any hanging in there. Kiss them goodbye- You don't need them anymore! I spring cleaned my house in November before my surgery! That kept me busy, for sure! I started a photo album project, organizing all the picutres that are strewn about. That was fun too. I guess I felt that if my house was in order, then I'd be OK> Whatever- that makes no sense. But, I WAS a little crazed. ;) Put together your Milestone List (the list of things that will be a big deal -or even a little deal- when you accomplish them) and dont forget the REWARD List to go along with those milestones. Get creative and think about little things that you can do/give to yourself when you acheive a goal. That's FUN! I have ONE more thing for you to do... Set up a file (MS Excel or just Word) with your height weight and measurements of major body parts. You will update this chart once a month to keep track of your progress. That way- when you have aweek where yu are not loosing much- you can measure and see the differences. The body parts I recommend measuring, using a measuring tape, are (from top to bottom) neck, bicep, forearm, chest, breast, waist, hips, thisgh, calf and ankle. OK- now go get busy and keep your mind off things!

Hi, this is my first time in here. I am scheduled for surgery on 1/20/04. I have loads of fears and doubts, but I have hope. I'm so discouraged with my size that without the surgery I don't have much hope of ever being normal size. Keep busy, and prepare by reading success stories, and laying out a gameplan for after surgery.
