Foggy Head and Tired. Can anyone help?
Hi, Donna!
My fatigue didn't last that long, but it was probably 10 days before I felt 100% alert again. I was sleeping about 8 hours a night and another 4 or 5 during the day as naps (I was home from work for 2 weeks.) However, I have sleep apnea, and I can tell you that, even with the post-op fatique, that the weight loss eased the apnea somewhat, and I felt a hundred times better!! I haven't once felt like I would doze off behind the wheel, like I did before the surgery.
Part of my post-op fatigue I know was from being awakened every 2 hours during the 4 days at the hospital, but part of it was probably the BIG change in diet. Make sure you still take a multivitamin every day to get what you're missing, and make it a chewable one unless your dr tells you otherwise.
If it lasts more than a couple more days, or is just too annoying for you, don't be afraid to call your dr's office for advice.
Your body is undergoing some huge changes, and this may just be its way of coping with it. Best of luck - I know you'll feel much better very soon!
Donna, It took me about three weeks of rest before I started to feel less tired. I just figured my body needed the time to catch up with the changes I put it through! I found that once I had the go ahead to slowly exercise, the less tired I felt. Now 6 weeks post-op I find I am more tired if I don't walk. I need the exercise and find I sleep better at night and don't take naps like I use to before the surgery! Best of luck!!!
