The only way a parent can take time off for a child is if the child is under 18 or mentally disbled. That sucks. I wanted my mommy to come out. The good news is that my grandma will be coming out to help me instead. I got permission last night from the witch-in-law to have her here for two weeks or so and it's set. She will come home with us when we come home from Thanksgiving and then we will fly her home. I am calling Dr. A's office as soon as I get done here to see if I can get on a waiting list for Liz for my last appointment. I am doing this and surviving.  Oh and last night I wore a shirt that was a little snug before and it is now looser.

Hi Kathy, You may want to look into the FMLA law more closely...Google it and go to the main page and it explains...it is for any child that is seriously ill, not just under 18. I didn't recognize you in your pix.  I guess I hadn't realized that you changed it from the one with you sitting on the wall!  You go girl! If you can't get into Liz, can't you ask Lois if you can pop into Mary Sue? That's why Dr A hired someone else. Check these things out... Paula

I did and the term child is defind as someone under 18 or mentally disabled.  The pic was taken 3 years ago. I have one of us from 2 weeks ago on my profile if ya wanna see a recent one. I called and I am just trying to get into whoever I can see if I can get in earlier.

You CAN do this, Kathy! Glad to see you are getting your ducks in a row - what is your actual surgery date? I'm going to throw out a piece of unsolicited advice risking being hissed and booed off the board - but I gotta say what I think needs to be said in the best interest of your success - you need to rid yourself of negative thoughts and emotions, especially if they are directed at other people (I'm referring to the "witch-in-law") comment in your post). Listen, take it from someone who has walked through burning coals of self-discovery and radical behavioral changes in order to get to goal weight and stay there: learn to center yourself, calm yourself, and especially learn to look to yourself and only yourself for owning your life problems, disappointments, aggrevations, all of it...we are the only ones responsible for our own lives, no one else - no lousy husbands, in-laws, bosses, children, dogs, cats, or snakes, including the human ones.  Once you get to that point of acceptance, there is great relief in realizing you also own the power to live your life on your own terms.  If i didn't wrestle with this and work through it, I am certain to have gained all my weight back by now.  Negative thought, negative energy, negative feelings and finger-pointing at other people for causing our problems is toxic living. Enough said, my friend.  Be content and live life fully - all will be well.  Ok, you all can shoot me now - I've taken cover. Maureen

***puts on the hubbys cammo and grabs his gun. sneaks up on Maureen, cause I can see her since she's not in cammo, and shoots her in the back*** Oh did I mention it was a paint ball gun? LOL It's cool hun, I appreciate all help from those that have been there and when it is given in love. I have realized that I am the one responsible for my feelings and how I react to others. Since this is a new realization, I am still working on it. I am really struggleing with my mother-in-law since it always feels that I am not good enough no matter what. I know it is her problem and I am trying to let go. It's not easy but I am trying. I did see some shock when she thought I thought she would say no with family coming out her after surgery. Maybe she doesn't hate me as bad as I thought she did.
