Asthma/Prednisone Blues...Consult Delay?????
12/11/2003 Thought I would take a moment for an update and see if any asthma sufferers have ever experienced this.. I wish I had something really awesome to announce but the fact of the matter is I am still sick. It's almost 6 weeks now. Was still on prednisone last week (Doc told me to take 40 or 50 mgs a day till feel better then wean myself off it) thought I'd be ending it but had follow up with Pulmonary Doc this morning and he upped my dose to 80 mg/day and prescribed a different Medication to use with the nebulizer I asked the Dr if I'm responsible for my actions with such a high does? lol... Also as of last week they wanted me out of work but due to the fact that I have no sick time and no short term disability I really have no choice right now but to work... Anything and everything I do is knocking the wind out of my sail completely. Tonight I do feel a little bit better. I think it's because I had to bring my nebulizer to work so I can do it 4 times a day(instead of using my regular inhaler) .This has put a wrench in my pre-op journey because last week my PCP told me if I'm not better soon I should reschedule my surgery consult which is January 13th. He said they won't touch me unless I get my respiratory functions under control... They've been concerned it was something more serious so they ran tons of blood work and I should have all the results by Friday. I hope this does the trick. Keep your fingers crossed.
P.S. oh wait I do have a bright side... I was experiencing sleepless nights from all the drugs they have me on and I was tossing and turning till 3 4 even 5 o'clock in the morning. My Dr. prescribed me Ambien. Let me tell you ladies and gents I have never slept so great This was 2 nights ago and I've been taking one before getting under the covers and within 20 minutes I am out and wake up in the morning without any type of hangover from it. Thank god for small favors.
