Hi Folks, Got the call from Lois at Dr Aranow's office this morning.. I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 29th ! I go to a pre surgery class tomorrow.. It seems like a dream - is this really happening? ... I'm scared and excited..I'm happy and anxious.. Up and down on that old mood swing.. but I do have to say that deep down I feel a sort of peacefulness , a thankful feeling that this part of my life (heavy and unhealthy) is screeching to an end.. Yep, that's the way I felt, Elaine! I kept waiting for the "air bag" of life to go off. It was amazing how fast the surgery date came up after the long wait. You really WILL be starting the new year with a new life! Best of luck! Bette 1 week out today

Hi Elaine, I felt the same way too - so excited I could hardly contain myself It was so weird to be excited when you are about to embark on major surgery, but knowing that your life is going to change, and you will finally feel good, look good and be healthy, once and for all - is an awesome feeling. Then to be a bit scared - will it be a success, will I live through the operation, etc., etc. I must say though, I was more excited than nervous or scared. If you have faith in your surgeon's ability (I did) and faith in the Lord, it will get you through. Hopefully you have supportive family members, (my husband is the absolutely best , you will get through this time without any problems. It will actually speed by - you won't believe it! I will pray for you - keep us posted. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau Lap RNY 12/3/03

HI......I have not posted here before, I have been a lurker for a few months now. Congratulations on your date. I am going to have my RNY done on December 16th with Dr. Aranow. I am also a bit nervous and eager to get this part over and done with and be on the "losing side." I know several people personally that have had this surgery and are doing great. My prayers will be with you.
