Found this great Mssage Center.... Thank you
Hi,
I just found your message board. Thank you all for writing. It has helped me feel that I am not alone.
I am having Lab Band Surgery tomorrow at Norwalk Hospital. Please keep me in your prayers. I will put you all in mine. I am very claim about the whole thing. The only thing I am having a hard time about is the clear diet. I was on the 1,000-calorie low fat diet and lost already 17 pounds. That seam like a piece of cake. I have been on the clear diet since yesterday and feel sick to my stomach. I can't seam to drink the broth. I have tired two different kinds. Any help on what work and doesn't work. I will keep you all posted on how I am doing. You are all my angels... Thank you for sharing your stories.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to this board. You will find continued support here - the people who post on it are absolutely fantastic!
Each surgeon has a different protocol both pre-op and post-op, therefore, I didn't have to do pre-op dieting or restrictions. However, I enjoy regular boullion dissolved in water, I think they are very flavorful. I've also found one that has a softer consistency -- I think it may be Goya. It's one of those that I recognize when I see it. Unfortunately, I had one the day before yesterday, and threw away the packaging. Anyways, its in a yellow box, with a chicken on it. The box is a little larger than a charge card - and about 1 inch deep. That is the best flavor I've had - and it dissolves nicely. You might find it in the ethnic section if its not in the soup section with the regular Wyler's boullion.
I'll be praying for you tomorrow for your surgery - I'm sure you will do fine. I'm 6 days post-op from Lap RNY and I'm very impressed with my recovery and the whole experience.
God Bless,

Hi, Cris!
Yes, I found the 1000 calorie a surprising breeze, too, but I didn't have any trouble with the clear liquids. I guess it just depends on the person. The fat-free broth does tend to taste like "chicken water". I guess it's true what they say: that fat makes food taste good.
When I was in Norwalk Hosp post-op, the bowls of broth came with a seasoning packet, and the tea with a packet of lemon juice, so I assume that those are okay to eat. Ask your doc if it's okay to use them after you go home to break the monotony of the broth.
I found the sugar free pops unappealing after a while, and ground them up in the food processor until kind of a sorbet that was more palatable.
On the plus side, I got approved by Dr Ehrlich's assistant to move on to Stage 2 yesterday (and that was after I had to stay 3 extra days in the hosp because I couldn't keep anything down), so there WILL be hope on the horizon for you. I never knew that a cup of fat-free cream of chicken soup could be heaven!
Good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you!
