Boo hoo I'm joining this woe is me club tonight!
Well tonight is my support group Holiday Party at UConn and where am I?? Home! I have a sinus infection and just like some of the other posts I am seeing I have had a wicked reaction to the antibiotic they gave me. The first one was augmentin, (nightmare) the second is Biaxin (bad dream) I am never off the toilet and it hurts to even sit down now. I called my surgeon's office and got his Nurse Rachett on the phone who tried to tell me I probably don't have an infection since I didn't have an X-ray. Duh!! But the worst part was she insisted that I call back my pcp. I said I don't have the confidence that my pcp knows enough about RNY to give me an appropiate antibiotic. So needless to say I hung up feeling totally unsatisfied. SO I emailed my surgeon, didnt' tell him I spoke to nurse Rachett and we'll see what he says.
So I am sad I am not at the party, I am having my own little pity party instead.......woe is me!! (I'm kidding)
Cheryl
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I went thru the sinus infection thing a couple of months ago and ended up going thru two courses of antibiotics to get rid of it. Docs all say we absorb medications the same but I really don't believe that.
I'm sorry you had to miss your party, boo hoo!!! I'm sure you will be greatly missed. But hope you will feel better soon. Drink lots and lots and lots.

Hi Cheryl,
I'm so sorry to hear you have a sinus infection. They rot! I had one 2 weeks before surgery, and I was certain it would postpone the surgery. Amoxicillan doesn't work for me (I'm immune to it) so they gave me Bioxin - and that worked. I know, I was pre-op and its very different as a post-op.
One thing I would seriously suggest is that you find out if you can also take either Tylonol Sinus med, or use a spray decongestant. If you don't you will continue to be miserable, and the post nasal drip could turn into bronchitis or pneumonia. Also, sleep with your head elevated, and use a humidifier if you have one - all day!
I'll be praying that you feel better quickly!
God Bless,
Kathy Bilodeau
Hi Cheryl. I'm sorry to hear that your sinus infection hasn't cleared up by now, I hope you get an answerd back from your surgeon soon. I also need about two weeks of antibiotic for a sinus infection (and that was before my surgery) and then there was still no garentees that it wouldn't get back.......I really feel for you and pray you will feel better soon.
I'm having trouble with my service provider as they are making changes in the email etc. so I keep falling out of the net......feel like strowing the puter out the window....so sorry that I didn't replay to your latest mail.
I hope you will get some better meds and feel better very shortly.
Hugs from Tove
Cheryl,
We missed you terribly at the support group meeting. It just wasn't the same without you. They held it in a different room this time... and will be holding it there next month also... because of the increasing size of our group.
There were a lot of new people there this time, which was nice to see. I met several of them. The food was all good and I got some good recipes from it. Cathy's husband made the best thing there... I can't wait to try it myself and see if it comes out as good without having his chef's touch. LOL
We were all disappointed that you couldn't make it. I hope you are feeling much better soon.
Love, Kim
