Ouch! cough and constipation, what a combination

So far things have gone very smoothly since my return home. My surgery was 1 week today. I am starting with a cold; post nasal drip which has my stomach feeling yucky, and it is also giving me a tickle. Coughing is scarey! I have also been blessed with constipation, such fun. I've been told it's due to liquid morphine I was on. I've been off since Saturday so I'm hoping to be feeling better in a couple days. Are all you newly post-ops getting tired of Carnation Instant Breakfast yet? Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, I thought I might have been constipated - but everything cleared up today! My surgery was 12/3. I actually had to push a bit at first, I hadn't tried that yet (sorry for the graphics). My surgeon says to take milk of mag. if you feel constipated - better than getting blocked up. I haven't tried Carnation Instant Breakfast (although I could) - I have orange cream Slim Fast and Butter Pecan Ensure (I'm sick of them both), but I'm not hungry at all. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau

Thanks for your input on the output. Isn't it incredible how we lose our sense of modesty. I haven't tried the Ensure or the Slimfast because they are too high or right at the max. in carbs according to my dietician and when I was researching before surgery I was looking for the lowest carbs. I haven't been feeling very daring either. If something sits right then I feel safe. I have bought a variety of drinks. One is from bariatriceating.com. It's pretty sweet but light. I have strawberry kiwi. It's not milky! and it has 23g protein, and 0 carbs I believe.
