Contacting insurance

After the Dr's office submitted your file to insurance for approval did you just sit back and wait or did you contact your insurance company about the approval process and to maybe nudge them along a little.  I have read where other patience have bugged their insurance company and got faster results.  I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO.  I heard they use to be quick in approving people, but have gotten a lot slower.  Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Susan, I called and my case worker was out.  By the next day, I got a call from Lois telling me that I was approved.

I have healthnet and I didnt have time to call them because less than 24 hours after submitting I was approved, however, I have heard of people who contact the insurance company. Good Luck!

Susan, I heard all the insurance companies have slowed down in approving these surgeries lately -- not sure why.  I actually had a tentative date of this Monday, October 1, which I lost because my insurance company did not get back to Dr. Aranow's office in time.  However, we finally heard from them on Friday and I now have approval and a definite date of this Friday, October 5!  I'm so excited.  I think you should definitely call your insurance company and at least inquire about the status.  You have nothing to lose and they might move it along to avoid additional calls from you.  Good luck!  Laurie
