Dr A's new/additional dietitian...Awesome!
Yesterday, Bob (he was a year out in June) and I (two years out this week) went to Dr A's office for a WAY overdue dietitian appt. Dr Aranow has hired a second dietitian named Mary Sue and she is SO nice. We hadn't been going because our personalities didn't quite mesh with Liz's.
So, with that being said, we met with Mary Sue and liked her very, very much. We did not feel like someone was looking their nose down at us and ordering us to eat this way or that...She offered wise choices and looked at our food logs and thought we were doing quite well.
We will return in one year.
Oh, and by the way...Dr A's office is now submitting the dietitian's appt to our insurance companies to see if they'll pay for the visit. Many are paying, now. I hope our's are covered...
So, if anyone has been lax, like us, in going to the dietitian for one reason or another...I say make an appt with Mary Sue and Dr Aranow's office. She's very pleasant and knowledgable. It's about time someone like that is in that position there! (And I've spoken my feengs about this issue right to Dr A himself!)

I also really like Mary Sue. I never did have dealing with Liz so can't make a comparison but Mary Sue is Awesome. I look forward to working with her.
I'm clearned for surgery by Dr. A's office and now waiting for insurance clearance and a date. I'm so anxious and excited and trying to have patience.
I think the time from Dr A clearing my file to Lois submitting it to insurance ( it was only a day or so for me) was the longest wait I've ever had in my life!
When you do get the all clear..be sure to go to the pre op class at the hospital...they walk you through every step from getting there to going home. It is very informative. The nurses from the 4th floor that are trained in bariatrics give it and helps ease the jitters some.
Right now, use your excess energy in walking, walking and more walking. The weather is beautiful and it's the best thing to get your body revved up for surgery...will get that final liver fat down so that he doesn't have this dorsal fin flapping out at him when he opens you up cause it's so fatty...also, it also speeds your healing time by leaps and bounds. The walking is crucial and cannot be emphasized enough. You must do the same after surgery in the hospital.
Email me your surgery date, and your full name so that I can be sure to send you some well wishes while you're in the hospital!
I'm glad that you like Mary Sue, too!

LOL That is LIz to a T. Took 3 appointment for us to get on the same page. I felt like crying every time I left her. Maybe I will try Mary Sue after surgery. I have one more visit left and I am going by the book on this so Liz can't get mad.
I have Aetna and I am only paying $25 a visit with Liz and that included my first visit that was an hour long.

I agree...stay the course w/ Liz so she clears you, then after surgery, switch over to Mary Sue. If she questions you about it, just say you couldn't coordinate your schedule w/ her's and Mary Sue has more open appts! She'll lose a lot of people over to Mary Sue, I'm sure and then Dr A. will finally realize what hubby and I have been complaining to him about for over one year!
When is your surgery?

I am crossing my fingers for Nov 28th. I had to cancel my appt on Thursday with Liz since I didn't have 2 weeks of food logs and the next open appt was Oct 18th. I should get the OK then and I am NOT having it before Thanksgiving simce I am going home. I am also just hoping for anytime before the end of the year.
