STRESSED

Lucky me picked for a criminal case; it is now going to interfere with my last two appointments. So close but yet so far away, I guess I am worried that my surgery is not going to happen until late spring due to missing just about three weeks of work due to court. Though I have over 100 hours of sick time, (no I never call in sick) I just know work is going to give me a hard time. I am frustrated had I not gone to court I could have had this done by now. Hoping the DR will work with me.

Hi Kimberly- I was just excused from jury duty because I served on a jury two years ago. According to CT General Statutes one of the ways to get excused is with a Dr.'s note. I am sure your surgeon would not have a problem giving you one. This is life saving surgery! (they pick alternates for these types of situations) btw-your employer should not give you a hard time and you should not have to use sick time to serve. Good luck and keep us posted!

I agree! Is seems a shame that Jury Duty would interfere with your medical priorities. Perhaps someone would write you a note? I understand our need to serve, and agree that we all need to participate when called to duty. But, you're in the middle of a complex and long process- you shouldn't have to delay your medical issues because of jury duty! Good luck.
