Turkey Update
OK, gotta share this Thanksgiving story with you all!! My husband's best friend who is also a gourmet cook tells him we just HAVE to get this Kosher Turkey, that once we have one we'll never go back!! So of course you have to order this thing ahead of time, go to the Jewish Market in West Hartford. PAY $42.00 for this thing!! and if that's not bad enough, I get it home and there are still FEATHERS in this thing!!! So I tell my lovely DH, I am cooking, but not plucking! He stood there for an hour with needle nose pliers plucking away. OK, so now I rub this baby down with olive oil, kosher salt (of course) and pepper and off to the oven with my best stuffing it goes.
Now I am going to be honest here....... it was SO tender and tasteful I could not believe it!! Everyone at the table couldn't say enough about how good it was!! Was it worth $42.00 and plucking?? Not so sure about that.....
I had a little taste of everything. Even my green bean casserole and I was fine. Then DH and I went for a long walk around the neighborhood so I felt ok.
That was all I had to eat all day until at night I decided I was deserving of a glass of wine. I had my favorite Pinot Grigio and it was so tasty I had another. Well, yup, you guessed it, I was DRUNK!! We absorb alcohol much more quickly now so needless to say I am a cheap date. I went to bed right after
I am sad to say I HAVE to go to the stores today to get some sexy shoes to go with the rest of my sexy outfit for my 30th high school reunion tomorrow night. I was able to find this pretty cool soft "girdle" type thing that holds in the excess skin on my stomach so hopefully it will hold me in!! It will be fun to see how people have changed in 30 years! We had a graduating class of 800 but only 100 have responded.
I would love to hear how everyone elses Thanksgiving eating went....post away!!
love to all
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, Sounds like you had a fun day!!! Good food, good company and good wine We deserve to celebrate don't we
My family and I had a great day too, fortunately my cousin's daughter also had the surgery (day before me) so the compliments were flowing non-stop for both of us. I made my mom's candied sweet potatoes with sweet & low brown sugar and no one knew the difference and I made an apple pie with splenda for my cousin and I. I really couldn't eat that much and was just overwhelmed by the amount of food. I kept telling my cousin that her dining room table looked bigger
The best thing was the company was great and I really was so thankful for all I've accomplished in the last four months. The second best thing was I've lost 4# this week which is amazing considering the holiday.
Well I hope your reunion is a blast and we'd love to see pictures of you in your sexy dress Have a great time and watch that wine, lady

Mary Lou!! How awesome!! 4 more pounds?? what is your total now???
And where ever did you find sweet and low brown sugar?? I never even knew it existed!
You are so lucky to have someone close to you that has had the surgery. It must make it so much easier for you.
Where is your picture? Why don't you have one here??
I will try to get my DH to take a picture of me all dolled up so you can all see me 290 and 188. It's so strange still for me.
Know what I miss? Having the left over Turkey on rye with lettuce and mayo sandwich....of all the things to miss!
hugs
Cheryl
