Diabetes and feeling full?

I have heard that after having the surgery and when your starting to re-introduce food back to your new pouch. People with Diabetes have a hard time knowing if the pouch is full or not. Does anyone else have any insight or information on this? I am diabetic and was taken off all my meds right after surgery. I am on week two now, just cloudy liquids. I could feel the liquid in my pouch last week, but now things seem to be going down easier. Just curious what I have in store for me in the future. Thanks, Darlene

Darlene, I am not speaking from experience... but I don't expect that we would have the same feelings of full with liquids that we should with solid foods. Liquids pretty much run right through our pouch where as solids will stay for some time. I have never heard being diabetic effect your feelings of fullness but I will be curious about that myself. Good luck and let me know how solid foods feel.

Hi Darlene. I am/was diabetic and no problem knowing I'm full on solid food, I feel it shortly afterwards in the area over the naval, I no longer feel full in the lower stomack....only feelings of gas and alike. Like Linda say the fluid don't stay with us long, but if I drink to much too fast I can sure feel that too. When I was on the stage of creamy soups I could also feel when I was full. I'm sure that if you remember to eat slow and chew, chew and chew then you will feel it when you can have solids, and also on the pureed stage. All the best of luck to you. Hugs from Tove
