Hi Everyone Well I had a little trip to the ER this week and they just loved me so much they decided to keep me for four days I'm okay and recovering and hope to be good as new soon. Had scopes from botton and top to discover where the bleeding was coming from and low and behold I have two ulcers in my little pouch, ouch!!! Well another little bump in the road but luckily it is treatable with meds. The group at Yale was great and I got to spend more time with Dr. Bell (eat your heart out girls) One advantage of loosing 75# is that it really made maneuvering around in the hospital a lot easier Moral of the story, if something doesn't feel quite right don't wait call your doc right away!!! I learned my lesson believe me. Well thanks to all who sent there well wishes, they really meant a lot. Have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving, I'm planning on it. and hugs, Mary Lou

Mary Lou! What a week for you! What didn't feel right to you? How did you realize something was wrong? I always have these little things that I just blow off thinking it's nothing. I am so glad you are on the mend. You are so upbeat and positive! A good attitude really helps. I also wanted to thank you for your well wishes on my century meeting!! Back at ya on the hugs Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, Thanks so much for the kind words, they really mean a lot. Let me see if I can explain what's been going on. For the past several months I've had this sour feeling in my stomach. I would have it for 2 or 3 days and then it would be okay and then return. I kind of thought it was just part of the healing process or just the way my pouch would be. I knew it was unrelated to what or how I was eating cause it happened at all different times. So I just tried to ignore it as best as I could. Last Monday night while going to the bathroom the whole bowl was full of blood. Boy did I get scared, called my doc at 11:00pm and he called me right back. He was so great and told me to see my pcp the next day but if it got worse to go to the er. Well it happened 3 more times during the night, so my sister came and got me and off to the er. Spent 8 hrs there before they could find me a room They weren't quite sure what was going on and my blood count was low. Next day docs checked all my labs and decided I needed to be scoped, at both ends mind you. Doc that did the procedures found two ulcers in my pouch. They're not sure what caused it but probably a combination of things, the meds for arthritis and the coumadin (blood thinner) probably were the culprits. So now I'm on a new med to correct the ulcers. I'm glad they figured it out cause my imagination was going wild thinking the worst of course. I'm doing ok and trying to get my strength back from not eating all week and loosing so much blood. Well I've had enough bumps, so I'm hoping for smooth sailing from now on. I thank my lucky stars that I have such a great surgeon and such great support people. I think I would be ready for the funny farm if not. Well hope this explained things and you and your family have a super Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for this year. Mary Lou
