INSURANCE QUESTION!!! HELPPP!!!

HEY EVERYONE!! I WORK FOR THE STATE OF CT...AND HAVE ANTHEM BCBS THROUGH THEM... IVE HEARD THAT ITS PRETTY GOOD INSURANCE TO HAVE IF GOING THRU WLS... I DONTKNOW THOUGH- HAS ANYONE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM?? WHAT ARE PRE-OP REQUIREMENTS?? IS THERE A 3-6 MONTH DIET LIKE YOU HEAR ABOUT WITH A LOT OF INSURANCES?? MY DR DIDNT MENTION ANY OF THAT.  LET ME KNOW ANY OF THE STEPS IF YOUR FAMILIAR!! THANKS!!

I had that same insurance.  They approved me very quickly with no prerequisites.  I just had to list all the diets I had been on in the past and be medically approved as a good candidate for the surgery.  They paid 100% of the cost.  You can call the number on your card and they will answer any of your questions about what is covered and the requirements.  That is what I did and they were very helpful.  Good luck! My husband works for the State of CT and we also have anthem -the POE plan.  I called them yesterday and it basically sounds like if the Dr says it's medically necessary, they pay 100%.  No waiting period for medically supervised diet.

wow thanks that is such good news!!! tomorrow im going to a support group that the dr requires you to go to once before surgery. then friday i go and see my PCP to get the letter of reccomendation. Saturday im going to see the psychologist for the 2nd time to go over my results and hopefully he'll say im good to go.  then i can make my 2nd appt with the dr and at that point they can submit!! ahhh im praying!!! :) Its sooo weird tonight at work i just found out that these 2 guys i work with who seriously you look at and think theyre basketball players- just their build and physique... they had WLS!!! how wild is that! you just never know i guess!! ha
