Hi everyone! I'd love to know what Protein shakes everyone's tried and which one's you liked the best and which one's you hated. So everyone, save me the trouble of buying something that tastes like cardboard - let's hear your opinions! Thanks! Carla

Dear Carla. Your tastebuds change completely after the surgery and you will find that a lot of them might be hard for you to stomack while for others they taste like heaven. Anyhow here is a few exampels of what worked for me and what didn't. Before surgery I loved GNC'S strewberry but after it make me feel Now I like 100% whey Chocolate/mint flavor.....I can somewhat stomack the apple nectar but only ones or twice a week. The absolutely worth I have tasted is Proteinex fluid protein.....under no cir****tances can I get that down and I have 3 unused bottles of it. If I was you I would just order some samples or buy the protein at GNC where you can return it for a full refund within a certain amount of time if you don't like it.....and yes even if you have opened it. I wish you all the best in your journey!! Hugs from Tove

Hi Carla, I think this post is a great idea... Sorry for the long post, but hopefully some of you can benefit from what I have found. I totally agree with Tove. Most of us notice a change in our tastes after surgery. At 6 months out my tastes are still changing. Something that I loved a month ago... I can hardly stomach now. I tried and bought lots of stuff before my surgery to try to prepare myself... only to find that I was one of the lucky ones that seemed to get a whole new set of tempermental-tastebuds along with the surgery. So buy samples! I still buy a lot of samples... I'd rather do that than to buy a 2 pound container of something that will sit in my cupboard forever. And as everyone here says... "Everyones tastes are different"... something that you hate someone else will love and vice versa. Now after saying all of that I will answer the poll question: At the moment my favorite protein is: MRM Low Carb Protein in Strawberry-Banana flavor. This one seems to have the best taste, the least aftertaste and a really good smell to it and it also mixes up very well. I ordered mine online at ww.bestbuyhealth.com. You can also get some information on it at ttp://www.metabolicresponse.com/detail.asp?ID=92. One that I just recently found that I love is: AnyWhey Tasteless Protein. I have mixed this in several different products and can't detect a taste from it. It sometimes changes the texture but not the taste. You can get this at Susan Maria's website at www.bariatriceating.com. She also sells sample sizes of this. My next favorite is: Atkins Advantage RTD (Ready To Drink) in the cans. I like the Chocolate and the Vanilla. I use these often when I'm on the run and don't have time to mix up something at home. (Walmart seems to have these the cheapest.) I've also used Carb Solutions and CarboRite which are like these but tend to be cheaper. I also like: Unjury - comes in Chocolate, Vanilla and Unflavored. Get it at www.unjury.com. You can email Jerome at [email protected] and he will send you some samples. Real Meals - Chocolate and Vanilla. http://www.protein-solution.com/ Sci Fit - Available in SEVERAL flavors. (My fave is Cookies and Cream. It has little bits of cookie.) www.vitalady.com Nectar - My fave flavor is Apple Ecstasy. Find it at www.vitalady.com or www.wlssuccess.com. (And many other sites) Ok this post has gotten really long ... so I'll stop! But if anyone would like more information... feel free to email me.

Thanks for the advice on buying samples I looked at your recommended sites and found VitaLady very informative and very reasonably priced. I can't wait to be on the other side. I hope I don't have too many bumps in the road along the way. My prayers go out to all of you. It's very comforting to know i'm not alone

I just recently found a RTD (ready to drink) shake that is 11 oz and has (are you ready for this!!!!) 35g of protein!! That is the most I have seen anywhere, especially for RTDs, or powders. Being that after surgery you can only drink 2 oz at a time, this one has more protein per ounce than anything else I have researched. I cant wait to try them! Here is a link to the website. They have lots of different flavors like banana. http://allstarhealth.com/detaildisplay.asp?prodid=1985 Ellie Quigley http://www.weightlosschronicle.com/

Hi Ellie, I have tried these and they aren't too bad, especially considering that you get a whopping 35 g protein per 11 ounces (I've only tried the chocolate so far). You can also order these individually at http://www.wlssuccess.com/bottles.htm. That way you can try the different flavors before you buy a full case of them. Kim
