Hi Beth, I'm not too sure about too much water but I do know that the reason we can't drink around meals is before hand water will fill us up and we want to make sure we get enough protein. Also if we drink too soon after the water will wash the food out of our pouch. We want to keep the full feeling as long as possible. I don't drink 1/2 hr before, during or 1/2 hr after eating. I hope this helps. That's the way it was explained to me. Best wishes, Mary Lou

MaryLou is right Beth. We need lots and lots of water, but rule of thumb, no drinking 30 min before a meal, NO drinking during a meal and another 30 min after a meal. I have learned the hard way. I drank before a meal and got sick. I drank after a meal and was hungry again right away. This being said, I want to tell you one more thing. I find I get dehydrated easily now. So I am drinking a lot of water throughout the day and at night. So to avoid snacking after dinner, I wait a little while then start my water. When I was first preop I could not tolerate cold water, I had to let it get to almost room temp so it wouldn't hurt my pouch. Everyone is different though so you may be different. Hope this helps!
