Hi Beth, I'm about 3 1/2 months out and I'll tell you what I am doing. I have around 60 to 75 oz fluids a day 3 to 4 ozs of food at each meal mostly protein do not drink 1/2 hr before, during or 1/2 hr after meals exercising or trying to (walking) everyday if I have a snack it is usually fruit. I don't loose every week either, I think your body may just be adjusting. Also congratulations on your loss that is great, don't get discouraged you'll start loosing again for sure. Best wishes, Mary Lou

Beth- you don't mention how much weight you have to loose, but the closer you get to goal, the slower it usually comes off. However, assuming that you are not near goal, I would think this is just your body taking a break. Please re-evaluate how well you are sticking to your doctor's prescribed plan for you and be honest with yourself about any shortcomings and make and necessary adjustments. If you are doing everything right, then just wait it out. The weightloss will start again. You could also try a different form of exercize than what you normally do (not necessarily more exercise, just different) In the mean time, congrats on the great weight loss so far.

i really suffer from short term memory loss bad. all i remember of dr. bell's plan is make sure you get in 50-60 grams of protein and calorie free drinks. i do believe i am missing some key points but, i'm not sure what. is it possible to tone for weeks and not lose weight? i have been walking up and down 450 stairs 5 days a week and walking and or trendmill and cross trainer. is that enough exercise or should i be doing more? beth

you have done a great job! i have lost about 70 lbs in 5 1/2 months and stopped about 3 weeks ago. i'm supose to get 6 months of weight loss no matter what, right? i have been drinking a lot of water and may have chosen some fattier food choices than i should have. at work we are not allowed to bring in our own food( i do bring protein bars and water) but, i have to make the best choices of what i am given. i do get atleast 55 grams of protein in a day but, i shoot for more. i am not near goal i think i should lose at least 125 lbs more right? i started at 335 aprox. beth

Beth it isn't unusual to reach a plateau or two along the way. Your body often needs time to adjust. Alot of people find that during these periods where they don't lose weight they are losing inches. I don't know if you have been keeping measurements but you mind find a real difference there. Also I would check with your primary care doctor and ask them to check your sugar levels. The reason I mention that is because of your excessive thirst. Dr. Bell's instructions are basically the 50-60 grams of protein a day, eat protein first, if you still have some room then veggies, then maybe some fruit and last carbs. Try to limit those carbs as much as you can as the veggies, and fruits have carbs in them also. Sounds like your exercise is great but as Lisa said you might just want to alternate different exercises now and again Good luck and hope to see you at some of the support group meetings!

Try not to get discouraged. As Linda said check your die****er,exercise, and blood levels with your PCP. I'm only two months out and I've been stuck at 40 lbs. for 2&1/2 weeks. I'm finally beginning to loose again but it's very easy to get frustrated and slip into old eating patterns. Hang in there. Kathie
