Restaurant Review for WLS - Chuck's Steak House Wethersfirld
Review Chuck's Steak House, Wethersfield, CT
Went to Chuck's for dinner.
Before we were seated, I asked Nancy, the host if Chuck's would accommodate me with a child's portion or a shared plate. I explained to her that I had WLS, and my stomach has the capacity for about 4oz of food. She said that it would be no problem, "just tell your server."
I ordered broiled tuna and told my server about my surgery, and asked for a child's portion of tuna. I asked for no more than half a portion, and a baked potato. I also told her that I would not use the salad bar. The server said she would take care of me.
The tuna portion was about 8 oz. I would guess. It was simply plain broiled as I asked, and the baked potato was plain.
I flaked some tuna w/my fork - about 2oz. And I cut the potato open. Everything was fine.
The check was presented after dinner. I was charged full price for the dinner. I reminded the server of our pre-dinner conversation. Now she said, she would get the manager.
The manager said that Chuck's doesn't serve a child's portion of tuna. Nothing he could do. "What's the problem? You're taking it home!" I told him that I would not have dined there if I were told they wouldn't accommodate me. I asked for Nancy, the host, expecting that she would verify our conversation. She had left for the night, and the manager said he would have to "confer" with Nancy to find out what she said. I then told him of my experience at a nearby staek house. He shouted, "You're not getting it for free!" End of conversation.
Stay away from Chuck's. They can't be trusted. The restaurant is insensitive to our special needs, fail to keep their word, and the manager is rude and downright belligerent.
I plan to continue these reviews. We were a party of 4, and the check came to over $100. without drinks. It can cost a restaurant money if they maintain their attitude toward us.
