Hello Everyone: I will be undergoing my bypass surgery on Sept 17th, Open RNY, at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven. I know they have a wonderful support group there in New Haven. I live in Manchester and I'm interested in finding a group or some individuals East of the River for mutual support during the first month or so and continued friendship and contact. Is there anyone else out there? -Hugo

Hi! I live in Manchester too. I had surgery in Middletown. I'm not aware of any local groups to attend, unfortunatley. But, I'd be happy to stay in touch! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I'm sure all will go well with it. Drop me a line if you want.

Hi, There is a support group that meets in Manchester. I went to it a few weeks ago. They are in a bit of a transition, and they are looking for a new "host" for the meetings, so they have not been held on a regular basis. Next time I have a chance, I'll check my old emails and post the contact information. I'm at work right now, and I don't have access to it here.

Thank you Lisa and Kathy! I sent an e-mail to the support group address. Hopefully there will be something available. Today I completed my ultrasound and all the pre-op testing, so I guess I'm officially a go for surgery next Wednesday 9/17.

Hi Hugo-Hope your surgery went well. I had mine on 9/16 at St. Francis and I went back to work yesterday. I know Dr. Carlos Barba has a support group every couple of months at St. Francis, (There is one this evening as a matter of fact). I am sure if you call his office they can give you the dates and times of future meetings. Good Luck!
