how long does this last
It can take up to 2 weeks for the sometimes painful and persistent gas to dissipate.
Patience is something to have in your back pocket right now.
Walking... moving about... resting on your side with a pillow on your belly... those foot rubs.
It all helps.
Did you bring home any of the tiny cups from the hospital?
they helped me get small amounts of liquid in.
Keep trying... that is your job right now...
rest... movement and hydration.
The first month is the hardest.
Talk to your body... tell it you need help.
It will listen.

Like Tammy said, walk and move around. It'll get the gas moving and out. Gas X sometimes can make things feel worse...it did for me. You have to try and see.
You may now be lactose intolerant...get Lactaid milk or the lactaid drops or pills to take...it may help you. If you're eating or drinking milk, this may be the culprit along with the gas pumped into you from surgery.
And, call your doc if it doesn't get better...
