Anyone use this plastic surgeon?
Hi,
Saw Dr Aranow yesterday for my 2 year visit and we spoke about plastics.
He recommends:
1. Dr Babigian in Hartford
2. Dr. Borokowski in Middletown (because he's done a lot of bariatric people and they tend to have more vascular stuff to deal with than normal tummy tuck patients)
3. Dr. Castigleone - he's not keen on his work (why, I don't know)
4. Himself
I need a tummy tuck, but don't think insurance will pay.
Has anyone used Dr Babigian? Is his work good? Did your ins. pay?
How about Borokowski? Work good, ins pay?
Dr Aranow? Anyone do TT with him? Did it come out ok?
Castigleone? I've heard decent stuff about him, except that he's SO busy that it takes forever to get in. He spends over 30 hours in the OR alone...
I need ins to cover it, but have not rashes, BUT, when I walk or do strenuous walking or exercise, I am in excruting pain. I think it may be from my stomach muscles being so weak and the panni hanging. Could this be covered by ins???
I need some info, please! I'm confused...

Hi Sarah,
I think Castigleone and the "B" one are in CT Surgical group. Dr Borokowski is in Middletown w/ Middlesex.
Dr Aranow recommends Dr Borokowski because he does so many RNY patients now and there are a lot of vascular and veinous issues with the RNY patients that he has already dealty with that the other plastic surgeons may not have.

Hi Paula, this is the 2nd part of our journey. I was not prepared for the severity of all my loose skin after I lost the weight, and the medical consequences that ensued. You must enlist the help of your PCP, who must document that the reconstructive surgery (I refuse to call it plastic surgery) is medically necessary. Take photos, as graphic as possible, especially of the rashes. Every time you visit your PCP, make sure he/she documents in your chart the medical issues you are having associated with your loose skin: muscle laxity, skin rashes and infections, compromised ability to stand up straight or for long periods of time because of the heaviness of the skin, yeast infections, etc., etc. I have had quite a bit of reconstructive surgery performed in the last 2.5 years, all of which was performed by Dr. Borkowski in Middletown. He's a very good surgeon with terrific bedside manner - he visits you to change the bandages himself! In this order, I underwent: (1) TT/abdominoplasty (hernia repair at the same time by Dr. Aranow) - if you have a hernia, your insurance will cover the TT if it is performed at the same time; (2) brachioplasty (arms) and breast lift, both done at the same time; (3) lower body lift and partial thigh lift. All of my procedures were covered by my insurance due to medical necessity. I had to appeal the lower body lift, and won. You deserve this - it is NOT cosmetic, it is life-affirming and aids the quality of your life post-gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Borkowski's office is not real good at fighting for insurance, there are others that do a better job of that. But he is a fine surgeon. Good luck, let us know how you make out. Ask Dr. Aranow to check you for a hernia. Best, Maureen
