I tried to post on Dr. Bell's forum but for some reason I can read the posts but my computer won't let me open the link to post there. I hope the members there can find this post. I am still in the hospital but my husband set me up with a laptop. I am feeling better each day and with a little luck, should make it home this week. It is going to be a long recovery but I hope it all works out in the end. I have never been so scared in my life! I thought I was going to be Dr. Bell's first casualty. A title I certainly do not want. I wanted to tell everyone that my complication is very rare and most people do great and it is one of the best things they have done for themselves! At this point in my recovery i would NOT have had the surgery if I knew what I was in for. I probably would have done it again if the odds were back to normal. I hope this makes sense. It is going to be a very frustrating recovery for me because I am being sent home on TPN, which is IV nutrition. Nothing by mouth for as long as 3 months. The real kicker is that I will not be losing any weight during this time because of the TPN. I hope to reap the benefits of this surgery someday but it just seems so far away! I had tears in my eyes when I read all the caring posts about me. Thank you everyone for your good wishes and prayers. I wanted to say a special thanks to Kathie who has spent much time with me in the hospital, Mary (my rebirthday buddy) who is always looking out for me, Dorothy who slept next to me while we were drugged and Charlene who cheered me up and was doing GREAT herself. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting, even though I won't be shrinking for awhile. Thanks again for all the support from AMOS friends!!!!
Hi Heather!! So glad you were able to get that laptop. I am sure it will help to keep you occupied for a while. I just stuck a note in the mail to you this am. I am hoping you get home before it gets delivered. That would be the best. We all miss you and know that you have had a very difficult time but here's hoping that things have taken a turn for the better and that you will reap the benefits of all of this. The time will fly by. (LOL at least I am hoping so). At this rate we may start losing our pounds together!!! Take care.....will email you later when I have more time. Linda
Hi Heather, Oh My God I came on line and saw your post and was so thrilled to see you posting. I'm so glad your feeling better each day. I guess the power of prayer really does work!!! I'm so sorry you had to go thru all of this but am happy the worst is over and you are on the mend. Well I'll be at Yale on Wednesday and I'll see if I can find you but am hoping that you'll be on your way home soon. God Bless you and your family, Mary Lou
