I got 1.5 cc for my first fill.  I have the small band.  To tell the truth, I didn't feel much difference eating.  Dr. A said there was no need to go back to mushies or full liquids so I didn't.  But, as we know, everyone is different.  I'm hoping things will be different on my second fill in two weeks.  I would like to have more restriction and feel a little bit fuller and not hungry sometimes. Good luck, Bev

THank you Bev and Sara for your responses. YEsterday I didn't feel a thing. He said it was one of the harder fills he has done because I have a lot of scar tissue around my port. I felt like it just went in no problem. My husband and I went to visit a friend in the hospital when we got there he was sleeping so we thought we would go to friendly's and get something to eat. I had a little fish and I was stuffed. Down 3 more pounds too!!! Thanks for writting.

Hi - I'm glad your first fill experience was a good one for you!  I noticed that you said you ate solid right after a fill and wanted to let you know in the futue - it is not a good idea to eat solids directly after a fill - the band area generally gets a little swollen so you could have more restriction at that point and you don't want to get things stuck because then it will take even longer for the swelling to go down. I was told to only have liquids on the day of the fill (after the fill) and have mushy for one day and then go to solids - but I generally do liquid for the day of the fill and have a protein drink in the a.m. the next day and stay with mushies for two days.  And I learned to ALWAYS remember to drink water BEFORE you leave the doctors office! ;)

Hi Tammy, Not all Dr.'s orders are the same. While I do appreciate the advice my Dr. told me to continue with stage 5 since for some reason i have a 10.5 cc band. he only filled me to 1.1 ccs. I was fine and I he made me drink water before he took the needle out while he was filling me. Thanks for the advice anyway but of course like everyone says,"follow your dr.'s orders" Take care

You are absolutely right - not all Dr.'s orders are the same.    To be perfectly honest it doesn't sound like you appreciated my advice - I wasn't telling you to go against doctors orders - I was just trying to tell you in the future when you are close to the sweet spot of restriction that you'll have to be careful directly after a fill because eating solids after a fill can (and has) caused trouble for a lot of people...........

Your doctor has a good reputation in this state and I'm sure you'll have great success with your band. In the future, I will refrain from offering my experience directly to you because it seems as though I rubbed you the wrong way for some reason.

Best of luck to you on your journey may you be blessed with an easy road.....

Warm Regards - Tammy -

Hi Tammy, I can easily understand why a lot of people don't post anymore. IT seems that peoples responses are so impersonal. I am sorry if I offended you, while I don't "know it all" I am still learning. I know if anyone knew it all it is God. I realize I didn't post all the information until after your post. I am sorry that you took offense to it, you shouldn't. I do appreciate the advice.  I was just in a hurry because I didn't post the whole story before and of course I was a little flustered. I have been involved with OH for 3 years now. I am not sure why my old postings haven't carried over but they didn't, I will update my profile so more people will understand me. I know you are not a mind reader. But I do appreciate the advice. The other part of the story is that I went to a seminar where it involved talks about plastic surgery and the person I sat next to was bashing Dr. A a lot and had no merrit for it. This person was bashing him on heresay information. I feel confident with my Dr., this is coming from another DR. who had no bedside manner what so ever. I guess I was just taking in it that way that may be you thought he was icompetent. Please do post if you feel like it. I am sorry if I did offend you. Thank you for the advice.... Best of luck to you... Gen

Thank you for  your sincere apology - I was offended and didn't understand what I did wrong.  The beauty of the message board is the diversity of experiences that all can share.  I know someone who ate a tuna sandwich after the first fill and suffered big time for it ..... Take care!
