Weight loss and tattoo's

I know this may seem like a silly title for a thread...but it is a very important question I am about to get a tattoo on my left ankle  and want to know if anyone has tattoos and they were affected by the weight loss you know skin shrinking or getting loose now on know on my ankle it wont be loose but shrinking or tightening of the skin , anything that will make the tattoo look different from when it was first done due to weight loss. Hi Pam, I don't really know the answer to this but I've read some threads about this on the mail board.  If you do a search, you can probably find them.  What will your tattoo be of?  Who do you go to ?  I'm thinking of getting a small tatoo in a year or so and am looking for recommendations. Jen

Hi Jen, Flats tattoo parlor in Groton is supposed to be top notch.  The sub  base is there and all of the "sailors" get theirs done there,  I hear they are very clean, take all sanitary procedures, etc.  Check them out.  They may have two stores if you look them up. paula

Hi Paula, Yeah, that's where I got my cartilage pierced only at the one in Salem.  It did seem nice but I didn't pay too much attention to the tattooing because I was having anxiety about my piercing. Thanks, Jen

i would consult the studio you are getting it done at. I am holding off on mine becasuse it will be of my boys faces. I dont want it distored. the one i had done in april on my breast is starting to become distored becasue the girls are changing.  what are you having done?

I went to artifact in Newington for my first and all though he was very kind being my first tattoo but the color isnt as dark as I wanted it ,,,if you check out my photos you will see ....anyway ....the next one will be on my ankle a butterfly ankle braclet with my daughter's name on it ( she loves butterflies..) I want the color to be bright ....the tattoo place I went to was also clean. I just wanted it darker went back a second time and he did fill allot in but not enough but the price was also good 120.00 which isnt bad at all ... I also want 2 on my back near my sholder but will wait till the weight loss is gone I figured the ankle would loose less weight. Hugs Pam

Hi Pam, I have a tattoo on my left ankle.  Its a dream catcher.  Its about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide.  I've lost 73lbs so far and although my ankle has gotten smaller I have had no distortion problems.  My ankles have no loose skin so although my ankle has gotten smaller it has stayed proportionate to my ankle size.  I hope this helps.  I would definately get a tattoo on my ankle but I also want one on my back.  I won't get that one until I have lost all the weight.

Thank you Kim yes that is very helpfull...so what others do you have and want? I want a small dragon on my right leg with my sons name he loves dragons , a celtic cross on my sholder for Irish heritage , Leo zodiac sign for myself, hubby and our two kids ( all leo's) , a polar bear on my lower back because I collect them ( over 400 in my collection....LOL my husband is over come by new york giants and polar bears...LOL) a yellow rose on my left leg for my mom and grandmother and I am still thinking of something to represent my dad and hubby....I know I want allot but I want them to look taste full and not HUGE just for me to enjoy and show off ...LOL

Those sound awesome and all have a purpose.  So far all I have is dream catcher on my left ankle but I want pegasus on my left back, a cross on my ankle for my brother who passed away.  I want something for my son, but I am not sure what yet.  The only reason I have one instead of more is because my husband wants one but he is chicken so he doesn't want me to get another one until he gets his first.  But he did tell me that once I lose the weight I could get whatever tattoo's I want.  By the way... I grew up in Wethersfield. 

Kim , my hubby and I are the opposite he has 4 and I told him he cant get anymore until I have the same amount,,LOL my dad's tattoo will be the hardest he likes so many things he was a truck driver but I dont want a 18 wheeler on me...LOL and he likes country music and I dont ...LOL well some of it is ok as long as it isnt depressing... I have only lived in wethersfield for 10yrs I grew up in Meriden ...my hubby grew up in Old Lyme .. are you going to the WLS picnic this saturday at hammenaset (sp)? Pam
