Update on lllstric (Laura)
Hello again CT board.
I have an update on lllstric (Laura), but it isn't all rosey. She was bleeding internally after her surgery and has had six units of blood since Monday. Her back also continues to give her pain and she is also having a lot of pain around her drain tube site. The good news is it appears the bleeding has stopped and they are letting her go home tomorrow! (Friday) She was finally allowed to have some Crystal Light and some lactose free milk today. She sounded really good, then then she has all though this entire experience. Laura is a real trooper, but she is really missing her kids right now and like many of us at this point in the journey is questioning her decision to have wls. It really seemed to perk her up when I read the replies to her posts and her surgery support page to her over the phone.
I am asking that if you have time to read this post that you take the time to post a quick reply here and or also on her surgery support page. This board is all about support and Laura could really use some right now. So please help me out! I feel like I haven't been a very good angle to her and I would really like to see her email flooded with replies to this post and her surgery support page when she gets home tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your help!
- Bob

Hey Laura:
Bob tells us that you are having a rough time and may be doubting your decision about having had your surgery. I was going to send you an email through the hospital system but did not know your particulars.
This is the toughest time right now... hang in there... it is worth the effort, pain and uncertainty.
I had an infection in the hospital when I had my surgery and recovered well from it. Some of us have a harder time of it in the beginning. It does get better.
On the other side of this difficult time is freedom beyond anything you have known. At least that has been my experience.
You will be able to move your body as if you were a kid again. Well? most days!
You know we here on the CT board will all be here for you when you return.
Hang in there kiddo... you will make it through the first month and move ahead to greater days!

Laura,
So glad to hear you are coming home. Sorry you had such a rough start but I am sure the worse is over for you. Rest and recover and remember to walk and sip. It will be so nice to be home - recovery will be more relaxing there. Hang in there - you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs,
Nancy K
Hi Laura,
Sorry things have been so tough at the beginning, but it was great to hear that things are looking better and you'll get to come home soon. For me, being home was such a great +. Almost everyone has doubts in the beginning but as you continue to recover and move forward, you'll be so amazed at all of the positive things and soon the doubts will fade away It's a huge change. Just keep in mind all of the reasons you did this in the first place. Focus on that, work through the challenges, and become the person you always wanted to be. Take care and welcome to the losing side, Brian
