HI Everyone: I have missed the boards greatly. I have been having real behavioral issues with my sons. Both boys are autistic. Blake thinks he is being punished for not being able to go to  school. I am having a go around with the school district and nothing is working in my favor. The ped absolutly made me cry when she took home the boys evaluations and faxed them to her best friend who is a lawyer and her specailty is disabilities. We went and met with her friday. She is taking us on at NO cost. She herself has a severly autistic son. So we are seeing what our options are at this point.  I am very proud of myself. I have had to be eating out a whole lot lately. Business meetings and this weekend was my grandparents 50th anniversary party. which i shot over 700 pictures. I am exhausted. It all started friday with getting ready for it. I havent gained an ounce. i have lost. so woo hoo me. It was a perfect day. Lots of happy tears and laughter. They are still so in love.  Sunday it was off to winstead to the lake. We had a blast.  I promise to be a better member now that things are slowing some. It was all of the sudden thing were just dumped on me to do!!! I need to learn how to say no.  hope you all are well.  sarah

Sarah, I am so sorry for your difficulties with your sons. I hope you are able to get the help you need for them. It has to be so difficult.

Remember to take care of yourself, getting yourself healthy will better able you to do all the things that you need to do for your family.  It sounds like you are handling things as well as you can. Hang in there. Wishing you all the best. Sher

I am always amazed at motherhood and how we all become lionesses for our children.  It's exhausting having to fight for what our children deserve.  Good for you doing all you can to help them.  I am sometimes frustrated by the pidgeon holes that are set up by administration.  There needs to be more flexibility.  I hope you are able to get your son into school where he wants to be.  Good luck. It's good also that you are taking care of yourself.   I know that one of the reasons I am fat is because making poor food choices is easy.  I'm proud of you for not giving in or giving up.  Keep fighting those food demons. (((HUGS))) Bev

legally blake should be getting 25 hours a week of services. He gets between 8-9. They say they only do summer school for kids who are severely handicapped. well with autism there is huge regression issues and that is what i am dealing with now. Behavior wise he is a self injury and strikes out at me and my husband, he he is studdering and slurring his words again, he is wanting to be back in a diaper. so we are fighting for what legally he should already be getting.

Hi Sarah, Don't give up the fight...fory your sons and your own battle!  I know that when kids get out of their so called "normal routine", all heck breaks loose.  A friend of mine from Westerly has a down's syndrome child and he definately keeps going to summer school to keep his schedule regular.  I know that she has to fight that same fight for his services all the time throughout the year.   I'm glad that you're dealing with a legal representitive, because it may light a fire underneath their butts and make them do what they're supposed to do.  I know that they'll cry "under staffing" or some other crap, but, don't take no for an answer and go all the way up to the state levels if you have to. I know you're busy on all different ends, but don't neglect yourself this early out.  Take time to eat properly and follow your rules.   Keep us posted as to what's going on, ok? Take care, paula

Oh Geeze Sarah,  Autistic children need a schedule and things should NOT be changed since they can freak out (if that is what they do). Good luck in the fight and if the lawyer needs help I can help a little on Mondays. I was also an elem ed major once upon a time and know a little about autism too. Kathy

Sarah, I know what you are feeling my son doesnt have autism but he has a neurological disorder and goes to a special private school and the town pays for it I had to go through the special ED department at the superindentants (sp) office and I pushed cause like you I do anything for my children cause no one else will and after threatening to take them to court they finally put him a special school... keep the faith and trust you are not alone.. I have also been away and missed you all I have been in TN on vacation and infact I am in VA on my way home...so nighty night...tomorrow is the long drive back to CT and boy do I miss my BED! and my kitty....Maxie.. Hugs all
