I need help with finding a Dr
WE ARE PUT ON THIS EARTH NOT TO SEE THROUGH EACH OTHER...BUT TO SEE EACH OTHER THROUGH
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one
hand, mudslide in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
screaming ! HOT DAMN.....WHAT A RIDE!!
BECOME THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE
Don't pick your surgeon based on location, you really won't see them that often. I live in Cromwell, just over the Rocky Hill line and had my surgery done at Yale with Dr. Bell. You'll really only have a pre-surgery appointment, surgery, a follow up at 2 weeks post op, possibly a 6 month post op and then yearly. Dr. Bell is salaried by the university so he's not in it for the money and they accept most insurances, medicare and title 19. He does lap RNY and starts all surgeries that way. The only reason he ever does an open surgery is if the patient has too much scar tissue from previous abdominal surgeries so you would not get opened up for the "your too big for me to see" excuse that many surgeons use for not doing the lap surgery. When he did my surgery back in 2005 he had already done over 400 lap rny procedures and of those he only had to do the open surgery on two patients. Here's some info on Dr. Bell: http://research.yale.edu/ysm/article.jsp?articleID=16 http://www.yalesurgery.org/surgical_spec/faculty/bell.html Whomever you choose, you've taken the first steps to a whole new life and you'll be RUNNING around with your children in no time : ) Good luck, Sue 262/150 7/25/05 lap Rny
